Iron Maiden upcoming vinyl reissues.

Has anybody seen a US distributor for these? Amazon UK has them but none of the usual US outlets don't have them.

 

I see that the news release says "EMI and UMe" - well, EMI is UK, will UMe distribute them in the US? Amazon has them for pre-order as "import" listings at high prices.

Seriously though, at those prices I would just go for original pressings.

 

I would have liked to see a reissue of black vinyl paired with new CD remasters.

Apparently their management is blind, deaf, and cheap lol.

 

I don't think I've ever heard a pic disc that didn't have massive surface noise. These will be no different. These are simply pretty collectors items never to be listened to.

 

Curious to hear about how these are mastered

 

I got all of the originals, US, EEC, and UK (mostly UK) pressings, and
I want these so I can give the originals a rest and keep them from a collector's standpoint. So, as a result, the picture discs would be my new play copies.

I'd rather not be the guinea pig here, but I might just go ahead and buy 1 (any title really) and see (and hear) for myself before any reviews roll in. Just for the simple fact that I wanna hear for myself rather than base my decision on what others say.

 

The first two lp's were just listed at Elusive Disc for preorder.

List price: $44.99.

I know I said I'd get the first two because I need good copies and report back here on the sound. But I'm out.

And ticked. No way I'm paying $45 for a picture disc. What a wasted opportunity.

After metallica screwed the pooch with their 45 rpm releases I've been treated to more than one abysmal reissue.

Are these really being cut from original master tapes without any digital processing in the chain at all?

I checked at Sunrise Records on the weekend and they weren't in the warehouse yet, they also showed a release date of Oct 23, Amazon.ca shows Oct 22.

Hmmm..I'd swear that Amazon CA date used to say Oct 16th- although I look at so many bloody CD's and release dates who knows what I think I saw...either way though it does looks like the current date is next week.

 

I saw on facebook from Iron Maiden that the first 2 LP's were released today. I have the original US pressings so I'm staying put.

 

Amazon.UK shows them as released today.

 

I have all of these Iron Maiden LP's on pre-order, but I won't be playing any of them! It's been years since I played any picture discs, but when I did, I found that the sound quality was generally poor compared to the normal vinyl records of the same material... So I will enjoy these Maiden discs for what they are, lovely records with great artwork that I can look at adoringly, or frame and put up on my wall with my others if I want to... I'm sure EMI will do some sort of proper vinyl Iron Maiden re-issues at some stage in the future.

 

The picture disc of Final Frontier actually sounds pretty good. No surface noise at all (a least none that I could detect).

 

These are being released to counteract all the bootlegs that are out there from Brazil, etc...At least they'll have gatefolds and obis...
