The group Talk Talk has been pretty obscure to me as I just discovered them in the "Most Beautiful Song" SHF thread.
"Life's What You Make It" has become an earworm for several weeks now after buying their greatest hits CD.
I didn't know they did this song as I remember hearing snippets channel surfing in the '80's and could never identify the song or artist...
    LOVE IT!...

They have much better songs than "Hobo Humpin'" --- very talented.

The great Kevin Salem. If this doesn’t get stuck in your head, you probably don’t have ears.

  15. The rest of the album is poor though its worth it for this.

I'll take your word for it. Would love to hear it on a TT if I had one.

The CD version of "Life's What You Make It" I have on The Very Best Of Talk Talk has the lead vocal louder and in reverb with the tambourine hits compressed to where I can barely hear them compared to the YouTube vid I posted so I have no doubt there's better mastering/mixed versions.

In Audacity I brought the tambourine hits back applying a spectrum focused reverb plugin and EQ'ed it to where the piano and percussion are clear and up front. Going to try it out on my new Polks I just installed in my sedan's back dash because without the edits the percussion /snare hits are too punchy and harsh played on small speakers loud and this song needs to be heard loud.

In the late 1960s Keith Christmas was a popular figure on the West Country folk scene, appearing at university Unions and clubs like the famous Troubadour in Bristol. The likes of Al Stewart and The Strawbs were also doing the university/club circuit at the time - they made the breakthrough, but sadly KC didn't. He deserved to - good songs, good guitar player, and he had great rapport with the audience. I picked up his debut LP, Stimulus (in a sale!) because it had some of the songs I'd seen him perform live - great album.

you do find some stuff! they could have been huge on sunset blvd back then if the singer hid the vibrato.

here's a band that's just as obscure as the last time i posted one of their tracks. a week ago

from the same era. perhaps one day they'll find their audience.
