I think this is a great movie but can't recall a woman who agrees with me.

Leaving active duty, he probably just let it go.

    Some more movies to mention:
    • Von Ryan's Express
    • Around The World In 80 Days (David Niven Version)
    • Around The World In 80 Days (Jackie Chan Version)
    • The Three Stooges Go Around The World In A Daze

Yeah, that would probably qualify as the worst "date movie" of all time, although LaBute's later The Shape of Things is nearly as bad a choice. Yeah, ain't nobody getting it on after either of those films.

I saw "In the Company of Men" with my then-girlfriend when it ran theatrically. She knew what to expect going in so I don't remember that she got too upset by it...

Of course! How did we go four pages without bringing those knuckleheads up! (Is it possible we're just so y-chromosome we can't even conveive of a human being not liking them?)

I will say that as a kid seeing the occasional short on television, I didn't get it. It wasn't until I saw "Who Done It?" (1949) on a big screen as the warm-up to something at a revival house that I achieved enlightenment. Fell out of my god-damned chair laughing...

That Christine McIntyre... what a dish!

I think it's possible, while the guys go for the slapstick, the estrogen crowd is actually put off by the notoriously archaic timing, which makes a lot of it too awkward in this day and age.

Raising one. She's especially keen on the Four Yorkshiremen, the Trojan Rabbit, Mr. Creosote and Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. Her mom/my ex introduced her to much of this.

20+ years ago I used clips from Holy Grail to teach my 7th grade students the concept of anachronism, and it was pretty universally proclaimed funny AF regardless of gender.

Eraser - Even though it has Vanessa Williams in it, there is no romance aspect in the film.

I actually like women and I’d rather have them in the movies I go to see.

I think my then-future wife was okay with it until it got to the scene about Daniel Stern's record collection, which raised an eyebrow considering my own collecting habits. Luckily, we've never had that fight.

The long hair is a quick visual indicator of his disconnection with mainstream US society, caused by mainstream society rejecting him (as we find out later).

He’s a lone wolf rejecting the establishment, and those kind of guys have long hair in the movies (also see The Breakfast Club).

Except Michael Douglas in Falling Down - but that’s why no one saw “it” comin’.

I dunno how much my wife likes Python, but she seems to like it.
But she always laughs when I get hysterical. I fell off the chair twice during Deadpool and I know she wasn't that amused but she was laughing at my tears.

In the otherwise excellent film Rocky Balboa, Stallone had perfectly shaped eyebrows, doubtless the handiwork of some $500 an hour Hollywood salon professional. He was playing a Brooklyn mook. Mooks do not have perfectly tweezed eyebrows.

FWIW Statista data doesn't show large gender favorability divides except for women oriented genres. The biggest gender differences were in Romance and Kids & Family of around 20 %. Men favored SF and Action but only by 10%. Horror was equally divided.

What about the movie that Travis Bickle took his date to in Taxi Driver? Whatever that was was probably not much of a chick flick.

Thematically, it's a satire of toxic masculinity. I know one woman who has missed this point completely, calling it the most sexist movie she's ever seen. I have to wonder if she watched to the end. Apparently a lot of men have missed this point too, even though it's a film whose true implications younger men would do well to ponder (damn do I sound like an old man).
