You can look at it from the practical side of things: If you buy it now and then some time later decide you don't want it anymore, chances are selling it will be easy. If you pass on it now and then some time later you decide you'd like to try it after all, chances are buying it might be harder.
That is an excellent point. As of right now these sets are extremely limited one-offs. Many of these sets are selling for between $200-$500 on ebay, Amazon, etc. My advice, just get it while it's only $50.
Thanks - interestingly, storm watch is still available at Amazon for the more or less original price. I wonder if “a” will sell out any faster - not quite sure of the relative market for those two. I know songs from the wood has sold out(Wish I had picked that up before it did) but I picked up both heavy horses & storm watch recently At the more or less original price from Amazon
Yup – I have a bunch on my Discogs wishlist and they are all ridiculously priced. I’m definitely kicking myself.
Jethro Tull A (A La Mode) (The 40th Anniversary Edition) With DVD, Boxed Set, Anniversary Edition on ImportCDs List Price: $49.98 Price: $36.18 You Save: $13.80 (28%)
Excellent price before shipping as the exchange rate is coming down now. I use them for standalone CD but never did for boxsets or vinyl.
When Thick as a Brick came out in these sets it was readily available for what seemed like years. I thought for ages about getting it, as I already had an early vinyl and the remastered CD. Fortunately I did get it, just in time as it turned out. Now these sets feel essential and are pre-ordered on the day of anouncement. Makes me wonder about the way my mindset has changed since then though and how the market has shifted to take advantage of it!
It would be a marketing blunder not to repress the TAAB set for its 50th anniversary next year. IMHO.
With TAAB I put it off "there's nothing unreleased on there, I'll get it later" then "it's got a defect, I'll get it once it's corrected" and now I can't get it anywhere for a reasonable price.
this is good advice! Take it... This is how I feel about "A" I got off the bus after Stormwatch (which is a top 4 Tull album for me) I think I will buy "A" and give it another chance...
Every time I see those Jethro Tull spines lined up... I start to drool... haha I can't wait until the entire catalogue is finished up... Broadsword, Crest of a Knave, etc... I hope to buy each one as they are released, when they are affordable. I also wish Ian will consider 2nd pressings of these so the greedy eBay sellers might stop listing these at ridiculous prices!
Looking at those spines makes me realize if I had TAAB , it'd bug me that it doesn't match the others . Glad I don't have one . And if you believe that . . .
Agreed! I would love to purchase these, having been late to the party. Please Mr Anderson, just one more printing...!
That's where I ordered mine from but I noticed today that the charge which had been "pending" is now being reversed back to my credit card. The order still shows as open on the Import CD website, so I'm not sure what is going on.
When you place an order, an authorization is placed on your card to ensure everything is kosher with that card. Authorizations can only last a few days however, so if the item isn't shipped, as with a preorder, the authorization disappears. That's probably what you're seeing.
Thanks jrice. I knew about authorizations but I guess I never paid enough attention to realize that they would disappear.
