Can anyone with a finger on the pulse of the Tull world provide any update on this since the last post four months ago?
A web site from Checkia claims the Benefit 50th anniversary edition will be released on november 20, with 4cds and 2 dvds.
Fine detective work (we hope), seems like forever. A little light reading: JETHRO TULL – ” Benefit ” Released 20th April 1970 Classic Albums
Ah, Marco says that a complete Bonus disc is currently in the works for the Benefit box..... whatever there may be on it.
Cool - I'm guessing that the Carnegie Hall concert will be remixed again. Hope it sounds as good as the tracks from it on "Living In The Past".
If true then that's really fab news - and looks like a lot of content. However that's juts 4 weeks to release date. Cutting it fine for an announcement - which you would expect this week if they were to hit that date. Fingers crossed
Anybody have any links to this news? A quick Google search didn't find anything relevant or recent. Edit: well there's this but still nothing definitive: Upcoming Jethro Tull Releases
A fun article, but my guard went up when it said that 1970 was "a year in which artists like Cream . . . were becoming more riff-oriented." I suppose one could, in their defense, point out "they didn't say Cream, they said artists like Cream," such as Blind Faith, name-checked in the article.
To the @staff: please don't remove this as there is very little info about the release so far. Novinky na CD a LP | Jethro Tull | CD / DVD Benefit / 50th Anniversary / 4CD+2DVD | Musicrecords https://www.space1999.com/en/shop/item/81939827
Thanks for this, but I can’t see that release date happening now. The Burning Shed email I received about 24 hours ago made no mention of this set.
I knew it had to be something like that. I just found the idea amusing. "We don't have much bonus material. What can we put on this set to make people want to buy it again?" [Executive scratches his head for a moment, and then suggests:] "Bubes?"
For those in the know: Will the new book version have an option to listen to the US album version in surround? The current version only has the UK track list. Since I am used to, and prefer, the US track list, I would really like that option.
I won't be buying from there. Import CDs will be far cheaper (probably 1/2 that price, going on last Jethro Tull book set examples.
I'm sure on another thread someone said A was coming first. I'll take either ( and both). The release date though is a standard place holding date I'm sure for things to be released early the following year.
Based solely on what has already been released, it's conceivable that two CDs (and one DVD) comprise the unedited Carnegie Hall show. But I have absolutely no insider information that points in that direction so I could be wrong. A live show just seems far more likely than 90+ minutes of previously unheard studio material. 1970 was also the last year that Tull made lots of television appearances, so maybe some of that is on DVD, but the Wilson sets haven't comprehensively documented Tull's TV performances so I wouldn't bet much on that.
Someone earlier posted the same info as the new link, but from a Czech site. Pretty sure benefit is indeed next, and the number of CD's and DVD's is accurate (at least, they match this new link).
