The panning of the keyboards bugged me as well. It seems logical to have the guy on the left panned to the left.

It also annoys me when instruments don’t stay in the same place in the mix across an entire archival release - I find it really annoying when the guitar or something is highlighted or moved during a solo.

I should have read this thread before I requested a replacement copy from Amazon. Did the label ever offer a replacement for DVD 2?

  4. Not that I’m aware of. I returned two before I realized it’s every single box, same thing.

And each and every time I open a new LP or CD, I expect the surface to be without scratches, scuffs or other defects. Pretty much the definition of new/mint.............

So how can one be a Tull fan if you don't like Folk Rock and don't really care for Blues Rock? Their progressive spin on those genres pretty much defines what they were all about. I consider SFTW and Heavy Horses as Tull's creative apex.

I don't know why only SFTW and HH are considered folk rock but the previous albums aren't. It all could be classified that way to me.

I think Thick as a Brick and most of Passion Play could be termed folk rock, but SFTW and Heavy Horses were Ian at his "folkiest" IMO.

The earliest albums were more bluesy in influence.

Only This Was was "bluesy." Ian has stated many times he wanted to avoid that in his music.

I think Stand Up still retains some of that blues rock influence on tunes like New Day Yesterday and Nothing is Easy, but it's more diverse than This Was and with Abraham's departure, yes, Ian moved into more eclectic and wider ranging directions.

Stand Up could still be considered folk rock though. It's not that different to what Fairport Convention were doing.

Songs and HH are folk in a mythical English countryside sort of way.

Came across a very lovingly decorated 1978 copy of "Heavy Horses" last Saturday. Apparently it had been a gift from a class of students because there were around thirty different signatures scribbled all over the front cover! I obviously didn't buy it but it looked touching.

(Or were this really autographs from ex-Tull-members?)

  22. The only set in the series with one disc which looks like it’s actually been stepped on by a heavy horse!

Not loving Steve's remix, rather heavy-handed (npi)
