It was the Aqualung remix that was the mastering compression offender. And SW voiced his disappointment.

And had it repressed without the Mew alterations.

I think that was 'Thick As A Brick'.

    Oh right!
I never listened to the remix other than skipping through the tracks. I was too blown away by the quad and 5.1 to bother.

I thought Aqualung sounded great. I believe that it was Thick-Brick that poorly redone, and that was the one re issue that was not done by Steve Wilson (?).

And the TAAB remix mastering wasn't anywhere near as bad as the Aqualung remix mastering. The acoustic songs were WAY too loud. Ruined the original feel.

Original Quad Wish You Were Here and Aqualung albums coming out on DVDs was a dream come true that I thought would never happen. I'm still in awe. I mean SW mixed surround projects are always great, but when they got it right the first time (in quad) in 1973 or 74 or 5, it's orgasmic.

Those quad mixed reels were in wonderful nearly unused condition.

There seem to be some confusion regarding which remix mastering was what. The TAAB 5.1 remix original mastering was awful and was corrected. Here is a run down:

    Aqualung > 5.1 remix: mastering OK /
Stereo remix: bright mastering, acoustic songs louder than necessary.
Glitches on the original mix flat transfer.
    NOT corrected for the moment.

TAAB > Stereo remix: mastering OK (though a bit on the bright side) /
5.1 remix: mastering awful (way too bright), WAS corrected.

All Tull remixes were done by Steven Wilson except for This Was (stereo remix by Peter Mew, excellent), and the bonus live concert on Stand Up Deluxe (Peter Mew).

    Thanks!

Is there a clear-cut way now for us to exchange that defective DVD disc from TAAB.

Not that I know of. Unfortunately, the TAAB deluxe set seems to be now out of print.

You know you have the corrected version if on the right side of the DVD disc itself you have a line under "Album duration 43.30.".

Mine doesn't. How do we get a corrected one?

Unfortunately the exchange program seems to be ove, and I said, the set is now OOP.
However all recent remaining stock *should* be the corrected versions. I know people have tried Amazon 3 or 4 times before getting a corrected one.

If I draw a line under the time, will that fix it?

The address they used to do this doesn't exist anymore. I don't think they are still replacing DVDs. However they only pressed corrected discs before the set went OOP.

Yes, now that WEA owns Chrysalis EMI , or whatever is left of them, is no longer replacing the discs.
I had to go through the "hit or miss" method a couple of times before I got the corrected disc

    LOL

I was refering to actual pictures showing the inside of the box. For Warchild, they emerged before release...

I knew what you meant. I'm sure this booklet will be as attractive and well-done as the ones from Thick as a Brick, A Passion Play and Warchild (insightful liner notes, lyrics, assorted information, pictures). Will this one say 2105 on the back? :D
