Does Fire At Midnight in 24/96 2.0 remix cutoff kind off weirdly/abruptly for anyone else. I’m off to check other things but it sounds a little odd.
It doesn't cut-off per se but fades out a bit abruptly on my Oppo 203, but so does the original mix. As it is the last track on the album, it could be your player cutting off the last second or so.
Instead of spamming the other threads, figure I would ask here - anyone have any idea about whether there's even a hint of repress? The poachers are selling for a fortune, I would welcome a copy if someone wants to make way more than they paid but a bit less than the nutsos want on Amazon 3rd party
You can try Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood 40th Anniversary Edition (The Country Set) (CD, UK & Europe, 2017) For Sale | Discogs Still very expensive but from time to time not as insane as amazon.
...yup, of course. Just remain surprised that the numbers were so low for this one... Others are still avail for retail years later
It reflects the popularity for it, I would image all were pressed in the same quantities. It was the first to go OOP and was at the time, the current release.
At least here in germany it was the first one that got really high into the charts. Also Stormwatch is at No. 8 here right now.
I'm surprised this is so expensive. None of the other titles have skyrocketed like this. It's a nice package, but so are all the other Tull remix boxes.
Just looking now on Discogs at the other box sets I have: Minstrel In The Gallery (40th Anniversary : La Grande Édition) 3 For Sale from $139.99 Aqualung (40th Anniversary Adapted Edition) 14 For Sale from $77.77 Songs From The Wood 40th Anniversary Edition (The Country Set) 2 For Sale from $189.99 A Passion Play (An Extended Performance) 4 For Sale from $104.43 Heavy Horses (New Shoes Edition) 20 For Sale from $44.39 Minstrel and Passion Play are pricy too. As for Heavy Horses, it looks like maybe too many people tried to make a quick buck with it.
...exactly. which makes me wonder why Aqualung is $77 Anyhoo, dm away if someone happens to want to make a buck.
Aqualung was a strange one - there had been several versions released prior to the book set, including a large box set. The market on Aqualung Special Editions is pretty damn big, with lots of different options.
One that hasn't been mentioned is Benefit. I just checked Amazon US and the SW Collector's Edition shows 3 used from $123.95 and 2 new from $199.95 … so although not the book it still is commanding big bucks. With a sell out as a Digipak this needs a book release, if just to satisfy fans and complete the set. As a huge Benefit fan (my favorite JT album) that would make my year … hopefully 2020!!!
SFtW I think is an especially amazing value. I was not even such a huge fan of this title, and the stereo remix made me reappraise it. The out-takes are of an amazing quality + the concert video is very exciting stuff too (even if it's a mash-up).
I have the single CD remix and I'm very impressed. The album sounds great and the bonus tracks are very good. And I've watched the concert on YouTube. It's too bad they don't have high quality live recordings for all the boxes.
Honestly - the only way to handle this is to put common sense aside and pay the money. Once you have it you'll not worry about how much it cost. While you're obviously paying way over the odds, the fact is these sets were quite cheap on release given the contents. At twice the price I'd of happily bought them. Some times looking for bargains is just a chore, and I can't see prices dropping unless they're reissued, which doesn't seem likely given what they've said.
