None, because 'this ' is the CD version.

    (There is a vinyl thread).

Vinyl ELL50 boxes are numbered. Not sure the edition count or if unnumbered ones were sold. Jimi has been a perennial artist when in comes to vinyl sales.

The outtakes are so disappointing to me. What a bizarre group of songs. Five takes of Long Hot Summer Night?

If they were going to go the route they chose, one take of the demos and one of the studio tracks would have been sufficient.

That list for LPs is for individual albums. The total I quoted is for artist sales (meaning the totals are attributable to many titles from the same artist). My source was this, which also cites Billboard:

Beatles, Pink Floyd and David Bowie Help Vinyl Sales Grow

That's interesting about the singles, though, thanks.

Not that long ago, singles sales like that were rounding errors. But good to see Jimi getting another US top 10 single...sort of. :righton:

Jimi had three "new" vinyl albums out last year: Both Sides, ELL 50th plus the reissue of Axis. I believe BSOTS sold 37,000 in all forms in its first week, so I'd suspect overall for the year they vinyl version alone sold less than that. He's got a relatively healthy back catalog in vinyl, it would be interesting to see the whole list to see exactly where everything falls.

I think we must have been trading posts simultaneously. I decided not to delete mine as it had a link to the article I'd read.

This thread has been many things. It originally was a confirmation for the 50th Anniversary. Then it was merged with a previous 50th anniversary speculation thread. That's what the first 20 pages or so are. I don't believe it has ever been the "Cd thread". The vinyl thread was made for people that wanted to specifically talk about that. But, vinyl talk was never forbidden in this one and has continued long after that thread was made.

Where do we talk about the Blu-ray? :D

Personally the sole reason for purchasing this was the 5.1 mix. The book and nice presentation was only a bonus. Easily worth the $50 I paid for it. This is friggen fantastic and very well done! Excellent usage of the rears and sides and just an awesome and amazing three dimensional soundscape. Wow! 9 out of 10 indeed!

Was anyone else's booklet attached upside down for the CD/Blu-Ray set. I opened mine up and was really confused for a moment. Haven't been back through the thread, just wondering if this was a common thing.

Is it just my ears or is the 5.1 Crosstown Traffic really low in volume compared to the rest of the songs?

They are overdoing it with these outtakes on many box sets. It's just a way to add extra discs to the set. Most of them really don't matter much. Just a money
    grab. (particularly Hendrix)

I just listened to the outtakes disc and completely blown away. Far exceeded expectations and I love it even more than the 5.1 mix! Outstanding! They did a nice job on mastering this one and it’s also not overly compressed to my ears. I do find even the 5.1 blu ray to be fatiguing on high volume although I still enjoyed it in short bursts. The outtakes are the gem of this set for me.

I also noticed this and had to briefly turn it up. Perhaps an error, not sure?

I don’t agree with that at all. Any Hendrix outtake is not a money grab. The more, the merrier.

I think 5:1 is way more of a money grab than outtakes.
