So John and Yoko go on tour in 1981 as they intended. What would their setlist be?

I'm going with a heavy Double Fantasy and Milk & Honey setlist naturally as their latest records and I reckon John would have only done a handful of Beatles songs.

They actually postponed their tour til 1982 after the tragic railtrack accidental death of Johns former songwriting partner Paul who was forging guitar picks out of pennies whilst smoking weed.:bone:

To start, I don't think the Milk and Honey songs would have factored in as John hadn't released those songs, and probably wouldn't have by the time this tour would have started.

    Well...
First off , only John and his band perform. Yoko takes care of the management and promotion aspect of the concerts.

C'mon. It'd have to open with Starting Over surely. :D

Oh, and can Yoko stay at home? Please?

My guess is that any 1981 tour would have followed a similar pattern as the 1972 shows. John and Yoko would have done many (or most) of their Double Fantasy songs. And if they also recorded another album to coincide with the tour in 1981 (which likely would have been similar to the Milk and Honey album), then they would have done some of those as well. Once they finished those tunes, there probably would have been room for maybe a handful of others: some solo John (maybe 3 or 4 solo highlights, like Instant Karma and Imagine), and maybe a smaller number (2 or 3) of Beatle tunes. But that would have been it. They weren't going to be performing more than 35 songs like Paul does now. Back then, we would have been lucky to get 20 songs at the most, split between John and Yoko.

Unfortunately, I think they would have toured as John and Yoko, so I think we've got to presume some of Yoko's songs would be performed.

  15. Naw. Her type style of music was actually more current and gaining traction at the time. Johns were a bit more old school.

No one would be buying a ticket to see Yoko though would they? Johns first ever tour, twelve years after the fabs split, would be the hottest ticket in the world and I don't believe anyone would turn out to see Yoko's stuff. And Yoko's 'style of music' might have been gaining traction but Yoko's actual music never did.

John, Paul, George and Ringo go out on a short five-date jaunt.

    What's their setlist?

    ALSO:
The game plan, if John had lived, was to release Double Fantasy; then do promo work for it in early 1981, including TV, international travel (for TV and or press publicity), and maybe an isolated show or two; and then go back into the studio to finish Milk and Honey in late 1981, whereupon the John and Yoko show would go on a full tour.

They said they wouldn't go on tour though until the 2nd comeback album was out.

  21. Both. But if course John is the big draw. But Yoko's music was going through a rediscovery period starting around 78 with the punk new wave movements her work was very influential to lots of new bands being played.

In face when Double Fantasy was release sine felt the Yoko tracks were more exciting.

If I had a choice, I'd use this as a set list. He didn't seem interested in doing Beatles songs the last time he played live, but who knows.
