No I think you're right. Every human spirit can be redeemed. I'm certain John would be preaching forgiveness and to let go of the hate and the anger and move on

Looks exactly like a 40 year old John Lennon of The Beatles should look to me.

Love that photo of 40 yo John with the Beatles cut. John in 1980 was healthy and happy - which makes what happened even sadder. He had finally found peace and contentment and then boom

Actually had a dream about John last night, that he was still alive and making music for the world to enjoy. Woke up with tears in my eyes.

Miss you John! The world needs you more than ever -- I'll celebrate your music today but there will be a level of sadness that I just cannot escape.

Always a day of reflection and sadness...
My 16 year old nephew is staying with me this weekend.
He is a big Beatles fan.
We have been listening and discussing Beatles albums all weekend and we watched Let

39 years without him. We miss you, John.

I love this photo. John in his room in Almería (Spain), where he wrote my favourite song, Strawberry Fields Forever:

One never forgets the day he died or make time to reflect on this day about John Lennon.

Sadly my hometown Dallas TX had something historical to do with 2 of my 60's heroes & they were both named John (Kennedy & Lennon)

I was at the 1964 concert & 50 feet south of the book depository on Nov. 22, 1963...

John & John you are still missed with a big hole in my heart for both & it was all so senseless

It's still so sad. He didn't deserve to go like that.

On Dec 8, 1980, I was in college studying for upcoming final exams in my dorm room. I remember someone in my dorm section who had a small portable TV yelling out something about news on the MNF game and a bunch of us congregated to this guys room and caught a bit of Cosell talking about the news of Lennon's shooting. Shock, disbelief, surreal attempt to try to grasp and comprehend this bizarre news about Lennon's apparent murder, oddly delivered on Monday Night Football.
I remember a bunch of us just hanging out in the hallway discussing it and trying to make sense of it. We couldn't. Although a bit too young to have gone through Beatlemania at its height, we all grew up in the 60s with the Beatles ever present and as music fans in the 70s most of us had cut our teeth and grew up on Beatles and John's music. It was a shared communal experience.

I remembered the assassinations of MLK and RFK as a young kid in 68, old enough to be aware of their impact and significance, but this was the first shocking similar event involving such an iconic cultural figure that I had experienced as a young adult. Truly sad and such a tragic loss. Will never forget that night, but thankfully the music and spirit lives on.

I'm OK with that & IMO it was a case of simply being to popular, but I do believe in lifetime imprisonment for Chapman, John was my favorite activist & Beatle & I have come to live with the pain but to ever allow Chapman parole would reopen old wounds that are finally sustainable
