I have a Playlist in Amazon Music called Lennon '68. Throw in "Hey Bulldog " & "Across the Universe " too. Almost forgot, "Revolution" 45.

Wasn’t revolution 9 originally part of that full 10 minutes?

That’s no mandolin! It’s a Spanish guitar fill from a Mellotron accompaniment track.

Alright, just a little tweak of the original list, based on further suggestions.

Glass Onion is a nice title for the album.

    Glass Onion
    Dear Prudence
    Happiness Is a Warm Gun
    Hey Bulldog
    Yer Blues
    I'm So Tired
    Julia

    Revolution
    Across the Universe
    Everybody's Got Something to Hide...
    Sexy Sadie
    Cry baby Cry
    Revolution 9
    Good Night

In theory...but very very little of it remained in #9. As such, it's not unthinkable that #9 would have existed as well as the full length #1.

Not only in theory. One can imagine some Phil Glass turning it into a full length symphony, but Lennon or the band hardly would have gone there.

Absolutely not. What is the point without the genius of his partner Paul McCartney?

Well, there is the Take 20 with more overdubs which shows some willingness to make it work as a ten-minute piece - still not sure why that version wasn't preferred for the 50th anniversary edition. But whether or not the conversation about length had happened before John, Yoko and George started looping everything that moved, I know not.

Yes, the take 20 is in the second link I posted. And to me it seems difficult to imagine the take 20 evolved into a finished piece together with the same bunch of people finishing a separate Revolution 9 at the same time. There are simply two mutualy exclusive ways to finish the whole thing imho: Revolution (or Revolution 1) + Revolution 9, or a 10 mins version of Revolution 1.

Most of my favorite tracks on the White Album are 'John' songs. There are standout tracks by the others, but I've always thought of it as primarily a Lennon-dominated album, so yeah... I'd buy it.

Though I'm partial to McCartney as far as the whole Beatles body of work goes, I think that John's 'version' of the White Album retains more of the feel of the original album, excluding Bungalow Bill, that I think must be Lennon's worst, more charmless contribution to The Beatles oeuvre.

Well, if I'm Paul McCartney, I too would get tired of hearing about how much of a genius John Lennon is from all the jean jacket super-fans that dismiss the inane mediocrity of his solo career just to say how much they think Paul is just "okay" compared to John.

Yes because his place in history won’t quite be established otherwise

I agree. The narrative changed with John's tragic death.

Agreed I never subscribed to the "Michael" genius michealmania thing going on In the 80s 90s everyone thought I was stupid , now 99% those people try and convince me they never really liked him in hindsight after all the wackyness

Yes but let's call it what it was - murder.

John was viciously taken from all of us. I wish he could have had an opportunity to right the (mostly) wrongs of his 70s output.

    Why would I have to?

I have three issues of the "White Album" and the ability to make playlists. Why throw away good money that could be spent on other albums?

Yep... half as brilliant as the actual album.

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

without Rev 9...yes....but it's ridiculous.... the beauty of the White Album is more bang for the buck...always loved double albums back then.

Birthday could probably go on John's as well, was a proper co-write like the old days

McCartney: "We thought, 'Why not make something up?' So we got a riff going and arranged it around this riff. So that is 50–50 John and me, made up on the spot and recorded all in the same evening
