I've been a huge Keanu Reeves fan ever since I was in high school. He makes me proud to be Canadian. My main email account and live journal were both inspired by the Matrix. It's because of KR that I have 7 belts in 2 different martial arts.

I enjoyed the first two for their momentum and the clever ways he dispatched with his opponents. The first half of this maintains that momentum, but somewhere around the middle I started finding it monotonous. The shootout in the hotel just seems to go on FOREVER. By the end my girlfriend and I were exhausted from being tense the whole time.

I haven't seen the first two John Wick films but a friend convinced me to go see JW3 this weekend because he is a fan. I thought it was a lot of fun. It's one of those flicks where you turn off your brain and enjoy it. There is no time for character development because of the nonstop action. It reminded me a bit of some of the 80s Hong Kong flicks from John Woo. It'll never win any awards, but you have to admire the choreography, if nothing else. Good early summer flick, IMO.

I agree, it is about the dumbest movie that I ever recall seeing. It's 2-hours of dumb "Hong Kong" martial arts type of movie.

Complete with awful "Hong Kong" martial arts sound effects for every shot and every punch.

Every scene is like this and it goes on ad infinitum.

It's like a movie with a never ending car chase scene.

It is like the fighting that you see in The Matrix but not as good and it doesn't stop.

And, while I am on the subject of The Matrix, this movie also has Laurence Fishburne in it. He also plays about the same type of character that he did in the Matrix, but the character does nothing except set the stage for another sequel.

John Wick 3 makes Howard the Duck seem like a drama.

Maybe that is because we went and sat through the movie?

And I thought that James Bond movies were becoming plotless action movies.

I was just joking. I realize people are giving their honest opinions. I was just responding to people griping about everyone being 'haters' or 'threadcrapping'.

  17. It’s pretty close. I enjoyed it. It isn’t quite as graphic as, say, Brightburn during some scenes.

  18. I’m waiting for Candle Wick.

Keanu plays an assassin who also makes candles on the side and uses the candles and wicks to kill those going after him.

Of the three, I think this one is second best.

I thought "Wick 3" got tedious well before the mid-point.

The opening scene is exciting in a crazy way, but then it's just more of the same over and over. It comes with diminishing results, as the action gets boring by the end!

It is the same kind of shooting and martial arts that we saw in the Matrix, but that was twenty years ago.

If you took the Matrix, respliced the fight scenes together so that each one lasted 20-minutes, then removed the other interesting parts of the movie and left all the spliced together fight scenes, you have JW3.

Just sitting through the first half was dreadful. By the time I reached the midpoint in the movie, I thought, maybe now, we will have some kind of plot or story line and the movie is bound to get interesting. That didn't happen.

As you say, "it's just more of the same over and over". You just sit there watching and think that there has to be more than that, but, sadly there is not.

If you were to make a comic book out of it, it would not sell.

You could make a regular book out of it, but most of the pages would be blank...

Even when "Wick 3" tries to tell a story, it's just a litany of rules and regulations. We get one scene after another about various rules for hitmen.

Who wrote the script, Miss Manners?
