Keanu does a lot of his own stunts, driving, fight sequences, and the weapons are not "limitless ammo" like most action movies. He puts a lot of effort and practice into it, and it pays off. Much attention to detail in how many shots different weapons fire. There is also an absurdity and spaghetti western feel to a lot of the action that has good humor and intrigue to it, stylized in a way that elevates it above other action movies and video games. But the weapons attention to detail has ruined me for other action movies. The sound design (Atmos) is also tremendous. Really appreciate that element, adds much to the experience if you have a couple height channels installed on your ceiling.
I liked the first one the best, subsequent ones seem a little "forced/contrived". I wonder what the over/under is on the number of people he shoots? QUOTE: In John Wick, he kills 77 people. In John Wick: Chapter 2, 128 die by his hand. And in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, he is responsible for the deaths of 94 people. All in all, the total amounts to 299 kills throughout three movies.
I would put the over/under on the number of people who die in that 1 minute teaser at O/U 15. "You uh workin' again?"
You say that like that's a problem. BOOM! Headshot! in movie form. It's ludicrous and violent, with an absurd attention to detail, and I love it.
Two ABSOLUTE MARTIAL ARTS LEGENDS going at each other, HIROYUKI SANADA vs DONNIE YEN that alone is worth the price of admission! This may be the best one of them all, I can't wait!!
The world around John Wick is expanding, a special prequel series will go into the history of The Continental.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..... John Wick should've died in part two, enough already!!!
If Maniac does an edit I may watch. Otherwise, these are getting redundant and Keanu Reeves is a better actor than the material.
It's hugely entertaining and there is so much humor in it. Sounds sick, I know, but I find hilarious the fight scene early in the film where JW stumbles into the antique weapons shop. He and his opponents break from their hand to hand combat when they simultaneously realize they're surrounded by the knives display cases. They look at the knives, look at each other, and break into the cases. The throwing knife choreography that follows has me laughing hysterically. It culminates in the final (over)kill where JW throws a hatchet from across the room. Just when you think it can't get more over the top, they go there. Similarly the final showdown in the museum has tons of humor in it, while maintaining a top notch martial arts scene that appears difficult to execute. If you're not entertained, amused and seeing it as at least a little funny, yeah, don't watch these films.
I don’t think you can go into these movies looking for much or any reality. Crazy over the top. I think they are fun to watch. Looking forward to #4.
