    MP7 is a game changer.
    Had a Cambridge Duo previously.
    No contest.

    Great advice, thanks for this.

I had been drinking for about 14 hours (not bad typing eh? I can't see too many typos) and had been asleep for about an hour when I discovered it. Thought it was all over! Mind is at ease now.

Currently got it matched up to an iFi Zen which was a huge improvement over the internal phono on the Yamaha (really no surprise there).

Will be looking for a tube phono next, probably a Project phono box.

I'm digging the blue too, although now I can't remember the red. I'd have to switch back to compare.

14 hours = time for listening to digital sources.

I used to let my new moving coils run the lead out groove overnight to break in the suspension. If anything, after a couple hours the stylus becomes encrusted in vinyl residue and barely makes good contact with the groove walls. So stylus wear is extremely minimal.

If that's the case, better replace your entire audio system. Just to be on the safe side!:)

I did that with the Blue and I didn't have any problems. I will also agree with the others about the Blue, I think that it may be the best bang for your buck out there.

One hour is nothing. It's like you played another album or 2.

Nope, I’ve seen this before… within the next 50 hours of playback or so, it will explode. Kill radius: 3 meters.

Just make sure your listening distance is greater than that.

Don't get me wrong 95% of that time was all digital! I had 30 people in my house (celebrating 40th birthday party) and once they all left about 1:00am that's when I started playing records. Pass out time aprox 4:00am.

Your stylus now only has 786.5 hours left on it, instead of 788

I would clean the stylus, though. Dust and grime seems to settle towards the center of the record.

How would you recommend cleaning it? I have a Pro-ject stylus brush but I must say it does not do a great job.

I use this, which does a good job. I'm assuming that something comparable is available in NZ if they don't carry MoFi accessories. FWIW I've been assured that there is no digital processing in the manufacture of this cleaning product.

Cover the top of a nickel with Blu-Tack, then put the nickel on the platter. Dip the stylus in the Blu-Tack slowly, raise and repeat a few times.

Your stylus is made of diamond. You know, the material that can scratch a mirror? It's very hard. Vinyl is very soft. You are more likely wearing out the runout groove than anything.

Yes definitely better than Onzow Zerodust or any other gel. Those leave gel residue behind on the stylus!
