Looks like Timothy Olyphant is returning as Raylan Givens. I enjoyed it the first time, maybe this will turn out alright. Timothy Olyphant will reprise his role as Raylan Givens in Justified: City Primeval (msn.com)
Looking forward to this. Thoroughly enjoyed Justified. Wish there were a few more details (Time frame & How it will be shown. Guessing FX, but….)
Woo HOOOO! They've only got Elmore Leonard right a couple of times. "Justified" was a freaking home run.
Really looking forward to it, but Walton Goggins and Nick Searcy were big contributors to the success of Justified.
Justified is right up there with The Shield as far as being a perfect series. While there was a genuine opportunity to do a movie or short series set 5 years after the end of The Shield (when Vic's deal was up), Justified ended just fine, and isn't screaming for more. And more definitely ain't necessarily better.
Pretty sure I saw the FX logo in a link. Also read that it's been in the works since March of last year, maybe filming has begun. It would be nice to see this in the fall.
One of my all-time favorite series. The only concern that I have is that the supporting cast for the series was so good (Nick Searcy, Joelle Carter, Walton Goggins, Jacob Pitts, Raymond J Barry, Stephen Root, Jeremy Davies, Mykelti Thompson, etc) as were the seasonal heavies (MC Gainey, Margo Martindale, Neal McDonough, Sam Elliott, etc) and a special shout-out to the all-time best fool, Dewey Crowe (Damon Harriman), that I wonder if the limited series can retain that magic. This was one of the best cast series ever. Still, some more Raylen Givens is A-OK with me.
Big news if Tarantino is involved. Quentin Tarantino in Talks to Direct FX's 'Justified' Revival - Variety
I'll check this out for sure, though the Detroit setting doesn't sound appealing to me. Raylan and Justified seem like they need to be in the sticks, in a rural setting.
Even though he's aged (we all have!) Timothy Olyphant really brought his A-game to HBO's Deadwood, The Movie. I'm really looking forward to this!
Justified had one of my all-time favorite lines..."You run into an a**hole in the morning, you ran into an a**hole. You run into a**holes all day, you're the a**hole."
I read the novel as recently as two years ago. The main character is a Detroit homicide cop named Raymond Cruz, but he is so similar in worldview and behavior to Raylan Givens, that swapping him out for Raylan with Olyphant playing him is kind of a genius idea. I remember ages ago when discussions began about adapting City Primeval, there was scuttlebutt about possibly including Raylan Givens in it, and I thought, "Why would they need two characters who are so similar?" ...and that is one of several ways that Graham Yost is smarter than me.
