I pulled the following from an old thread that included all of Kate's CDs, so it was pretty unwieldy.

Therefore, to have a thread dedicated to just this one album (Kate's best IMHO):

    I'm wondering if the

    Hounds Of Love - EMI-Manhattan CDP 7 46164 2 DIDX 1100 (Made In USA)
    Matrix: CDP 7 46164 2 AR @1 {some other symbols} CAPITOL JAX 1

    is the same as:

    Hounds Of Love - EMI-Manhattan CDP 7 46164 2 DIDX 1100 (Made In USA)
Matrix: 1-1-1 MASTERED BY EMI MFG IFPI L043 077774616423

    100.0 % - 90.5 % - 100.0 % - 83.7 % - 100.0 % - 61.3 % - 71.0 % - 100.0 % - 93.1 % - 100.0 % - 100.0 % - 100.0 %

Which is the same as the Japanese for UK version (directly below).

HOUNDS OF LOVE CDP 7 46164 2 Made in Japan
    matrix: CDP 7 46164 2 6A2
    100.0 / 90.5 / 100.0 / 83.7 / 100.0 / 61.3 / 71.0 / 100.0 / 93.1 / 100.0 / 100.0 / 100.0

In any event, where does the U.S. "CAPITOL JAX" pressing rank sound-wise?

I'm sure the USA JAX and USA EMI are the same.

If you want to to look up information about shared masterings and EAC values, you can also try Lazlo's CD History Machine.

I also have a question about this. I have two version of this at my disposal... EMI|Canada and EMI|Manhattan.

Why is one mastered 'louder' than the other? What's the difference? Below is an example of 'Running up That Hill'.

    EMI|Canada: (E2 07777 46164 2 3) – Spine says EMI USA, disc is EMI Canada

    EMI|Manhattan: (CDP 7 46164 2) – Spine
