Perhaps Perhaps it won t last I have very hard to see the point in re-uniting surviving members of the Kinks. They have a legazy second to none. Won t ever top it Some new songs festuring Ray and Dave but would not chamge anything either Saw them live plenty of times from the late sixties to the late seventies. Never less than very good and at it s best-well as good as rock-music can be. Also saw the brothers involved on some fighting. Once I believe because Dave persisted to play very heavy guitar during the more delicate part of Celluloid heroes. Something Ray did not enjoy much Another great moment in the early seventies during the preservation act era. A rather intoxicated Ray sang the whole of Alcohol balancing a beer-can on his head What could possible top those thing today?
I saw a lady empty a beer bottle in Amsterdam with no hands and not drink it either. She also then magically refilled it, (sigh) with those skills gotta be married by now!
Ray would charge Mick too much rent. And Dave would flood his basement sooner than let Mick live there.
Even if he did that Dave would not beat Ray who stepped on Daves birthday-cake when he turned 50 I love those guys-how can one not
Been waiting on this since the fall of 2013. I'll believe it when I see it. The proposed 1999 reunion of the Pete Quaife lineup never led to anything.
New album 'almost complete' apparently! Ray Davies: 'New Kinks album is almost complete' Ray Davies has almost competed The Kinks first new album in more than 25 years. Speaking to WENN at Britain’s Association of Independent Music’s (AIM) Independent Music Awards on Tuesday (03Sep19), Ray revealed he and his brother Dave have been back in the studio and have plenty of songs ready for their first studio record together since 1993. Drummer Mick Avory is also on board for the first time since 1989’s UK Jive. “We’re sorting through songs at the moment, picking the right ones, it’s one of the crucial things,” he said. “We’ve got an interesting collection but it’s trying to get it all to fit.” Asked how things are between him and his sibling, with whom he has a famously fractious relationship, the rocker added: “We love each other but from afar, we’re not lovey-dovey. But in the studio it works.” As for the album itself, Ray highlighted two songs that he’s really proud of that he wants to appear on the record. “There are two that I really like; one is a touring song, one is an introspective one,” he explained. “One is called Far Eastern Holiday, which is about discovering the Far East, and the other one is kind of about TV.” The musician also said the group may tour the record, as he wants to see how audiences respond to his new music. “I love to tour,” he said. “I love discovering new material with an audience, even if the audience just wants to hear the old stuff.” Ray presented Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry with the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize during the ceremony at London’s Roundhouse.
Well, well, well. I know Ray loves to talk the talk, and then nothing happens. But, maybe, something is indeed happening here.
I know.. I still don't want to speak too soon, but little by little we seem to be getting more concrete information. Even if nothing more ever happens after this, if the above is true it seems already enough has happened for there to be at least one more Great Lost Kinks Album.
Amazing there aren't better shots of Ray with the beer on the head on the internet. This shot looks post-Kinks but I believe that's Bob Henrit photobombing. May be from the 90's, but the old demon Alcohol wasn't much in the set anymore for the last decade or so.
21st December 1994 in Stuttgart Germany, headlining a triple bill with ELO2 and Kansas apparently! Mixed success for the Heroes of Rock
