Speaking of Squid Game, has anyone else watched Hellbound on Netflix? I enjoyed it as much as Squid Game.
I'm one and a half episodes in. It hasn't grabbed me yet but it's an interesting premise. Sounds like I need to stick with it.
The Call (2020) - pretty good thriller with some nice twists, sometimes a little hard to follow due to time line changes
Recently watched Witch: Part 1, Subversion. Slow in parts, but some good performances. Great action in ~25 of the last ~40 minutes.
I looking forward to seeing Park Chan-wook's "Decision" and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s first Korean movie "Broker" with Bae Doona and Song Kang-ho.
Beasts Clawing at Straws, (2020). Beasts Clawing at Straws I'll be looking for the next from director Kim yong-Hun.
Just finished watching this. I thought it was solid too. I loved Jeon Jong-seo in Burning and she's great here as well. She's apparently dating the director of this film. Unique story and some cool special effects too. BUT...the after credits scene was just silly and didn't make any sense at all. No clue why that was added. Probably for a sequel? Either way, if anyone plans on watching this I recommend stopping it right as the credits start. The film is much better without that scene.
I was really impressed with this film too. One of the best Korean movies I've seen over the last year or two.
I'm really looking forward to both films. "Shoplifters" was great. Highly recommended if you've never seen it.
I'm not sure of the total number of Korean directors around now. But the top tier of Korean directors is short one since Kim Ki-duk passed away in Dec. 2020.
Currently watching the "THE KING OF PIGS" - Korean TV Series tackling bullying and it's consequences - not for the faint at heart - highly recommended Also watching TV Series "LITTLE WOMEN" - very good so far Finished the series "INSIDER" - started very promising but in the end got too confusing and I didn't really care anymore.
