Sad news. I used to enjoy listening to him on the radio before the CNN gig.

  5. I'm not 100% sure that these English Language broadcasts that appear on RT America and RT UK are available in Russia.

However he was at his peak on Larry King Live on CNN.

Sad that he passed away. However, there were times that Larry did lose the plot.

I was a fan of Larry's radio show on Mutual from the very first broadcast in 1978 to the last one in 1994. As an insomniac, I spent many late nights listening to Larry and called in to the show about a few dozen times.
I watched him much less frequently on CNN, while he was good on television, Larry was in his true element on radio. If you only know Larry from TV, you really missed out.
    RIP Larry.

For me, Larry King will always mean radio. I started listening to late night talk shows as a 12 year old in 1974 and Larry was a mainstay.

RIP and thanks for all the hours in the night.

Thanks for mentioning this. My wife and I love that film and the scene always reminds me of my own late night listening.

Yeah, he was a softball pitcher on CNN but the real deal was his latenight radio show. I'm sad to see these old schoolers leaving us but he had a good run.

I worked the graveyard shift from 1986 to 1992, I think, and Larry and I became "good friends" during that timeframe! I liked him okay as a television host, but I think that he was much better on the radio. It was a very engaging show. Enough years have passed that I now can't recall which radio station carried him in the Seattle market. I think it was KVI, but I couldn't swear to it.

On his overnight Mutual Radio show, I called in and got on at least three times and got to ask one question to each person interviewed that night.

This one hurts, a lot. I'm a total night person, always have been and always will be. Larry King's overnight show kept me company more times than I can begin
to count. I got to ask a question of Phyliss Diller once, when she was on King's television show, and she was very gracious in answering it.

Remembering one overnight radio episode when Larry reminisced about Arthur Godfrey on the radio and Godfrey's ability to slowly entice the listener to make a cup of Lipton tea just with words. I despised Godfrey but Larry's bit made Arthur almost human.

Larry King was one of a kind. So many celebrities have been interviewed by him, from Barbra Streisand to Andrea Bocceli. I could always enjoy watching him because of his personality and demeanor. Hard for me to watch these kinds of shows, so that’s saying something...

Most vivid memory of the CNN King show for me was that Ross Perot appearance.

I remember that show! I think it was from around 1983 or '84. I never liked Godfrey either, especially after finding out just how much of an as*hole he really was, but Larry obviously respected his abilities as a radio/TV host.
