Paul gets the last word though because he has a final say on the NEW MIX of Let it Be (with others) and Spector does not. So he can tell Giles to turn down the choir voices, harps and strings on "The Long and Winding Road" now like he asked Phil to do in 1970 and got ignored.

I could see Paul's little intro essay being honest and referencing that there was tension at the time but in the end they pulled though and the music was wonderful, they played live together again, etc. yada yada...

It’ll be a fine McCartney balancing act alright! He can’t turn down the orchestra & choir too much, because then it’s not LIB - although the orchestra & choir could make the 5.1 a lot of fun. I think if the rooftop gig is included, Paul can focus on that in his sleevenote. I can see it now... “The original plan was very simple, we’d spend a month working up new songs and then perform them live. In the end, we went onto the roof of Apple... just a great little band... etc, etc... the final album was further away from the original concept than any of us had planned. Now in this boxset you can hear the rooftop concert in full and the raw sessions that got us there. What you’ll really hear is a bunch of mates playing rock & roll... (continues on p.193)”

There's also a short scene during the 'Yoko jam' where Paul is holding his bass to the amp trying to get some noise/feedback. Hope this comes in HD soon.^^

I am also curious about how they will configure this set and whether it will even include the Spector version.

I could even imagine the Spector version and the'Naked' version being consigned to the blu ray while the cds focus on alternate versions and the rooftop gig.

    Time will tell.

Peter Jackson is a huge proponent of 4k so I fully expect this new movie will be released in 4k disc and 5.1 or 7.1 sound!

why would the choir and strings be turned down??

the whole beauty and drama of the piece requires the orchestration.
Paul had it his way on LIB naked.
Not everyone likes it that way. It sounds like a demo........unfinished...

I kind of like the orchestration in I, ME MINE as well
It fleshes the song out nicely

Another good idea by Phil: He looped the song, extending its length from just over 90 seconds to 2 minutes and 25 seconds.

One has to give credit when credit is due.

Apologies if this has been mentioned.
I tapped the following into Amazon.co.uk 'let it be 50th anniversary edition' and got a 'TBC' box set released 24th July for £149 with 7 discs released by UMC - Virgin international. Also vinyl for £18.81 released by UMC - Uni/Island.
Could be something, could be nuthin'. Just thought I'd mention...

hadn't seen that before, but I really liked it! Ringo is positively WAILIN' on that! ..and even leaving aside Yoko's vocal, the music is really interesting!

To my recollection those that know a little more said the number of discs is wrong. As is the date. @maccawings @mikecarrera

Despite what it says, it most likely is for Paul's Flaming Pie Archive Set.

They weren’t known for their improvisational skills, and this may be the best jamming I’ve heard from the sessions. Ringo was really bringing it!

So is this the new thread that most are using to discuss LiB50 after the Twickenham one was closed? Or is the thread about the new film now a sort of catch-all for both the film and LiB50? I only ask because no one seems to be posting here, and I figure LiB50 is being discussed somewhere in this forum!

Oh, and while we’re here, are there any new tidbits that can be shared, @mikecarrera or @maccawings ? (wink wink)

The most frequently used thread on this Forum for all information about the whole upcoming LET IT BE blitz (film, deluxe audio, books, etc.) is:
