STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN (Led Zep) - This song came out when I hitchhiked one time from Sydney to Cairns. I can still hear it playing on my transistor as I stand in the rain waiting for a car to stop. 7. We got kicked out the next day from the Caravan Park. 10. SATISFACTION (Rolling Stones) - Sitting by the side of the stage @ the Country Road Bar in Bangkok in the 90's (drunk) trying to play the tambourine in time to the tambourine in "Satisfaction", I got through the whole song without missing a beat.

Einstein's 10 Laws Of Music Enjoyment: 1. An artist's positive impact is equal to the amount of negativity and complaining that indirectly and unknowingly acknowledges it. 2. 1989 is not equal to 1999, but both contain positive electrons. 3. All music appreciation is relative. (Einstein specialized in this) 4. E=MC5 5. Notions of imposed objectivity in musical worth upon others is proportionate to ego. 6. Po2 = OT (Personal opinion or observation squared equals objective truth). 7. The GJ = IAMF law (If anything about the Beatles music, breakup, or post band activity bothers you, there is a direct equivalence between GJ (Glorifying John) and IAMF (It's all McCartney's fault). 8. I = Gl + AiD (Image of a band is equal to Gp (Great if you like them) plus AiD (they are ALL image if you dislike them). 9. The "Flippant versus Thoughtful Principle". (The thought-out (or lack thereof) length of an artist bashing is in direct proportion to the basher's actual familiarity or unbiased ability to the said artist). 10. The "AaH > EL Paradox" (The allure of critiquing or using energy on an artist one hates is greater than the energy that could be expelled towards artists one likes).
Reminds me of a email conversation I had with a friend a couple years ago. He asked - So is Sheer Heart attack punk? (And he referenced wikipedia where Roger Taylor was talking about the song and The Sex Pistols recording next door.) My answer: It is if Roger says it is. It isn’t if I say it isn’t. It is a superposition of rock and punk. If I listen to it, it isn’t. If Roger listens to it, it is. Until you listen to it, it is neither and both. Schrodinger's well know punk rock principle. I added ( in keeping with the thread): Nearly 10 fast rock songs that are not punk: I Don't Need No Doctor - Sonics Stone Cold Crazy - Queen Whistle Bait - Collins Kids Tick Tick Boom - The Hives Breadfan - Budgie Medication - Queens of the Stone Age Hello There – Cheap Trick Fireball · Deep Purple Hold On to Your Hat – Rolling Stones
10 "Trendy To Hate" Songs. And, Yes, No Surprise, I Love Them All... 1. Revolution 9 - The Beatles 2. Good Night - The Beatles 3. Any McCartney Beatles song that is melodic, featuring him at the piano, that has elements of vaudeville or dance hall. (I have yet to figure out why someone would see this as some kind of negative rather than a talent? Even if they don't care for the song personally). 4. Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney & Wings 5. Hot Dog - Led Zeppelin 6. The Crunge - Led Zeppelin 7. Hats Off To (Roy) Harper - Led Zeppelin 8. Almost any Elvis Presley Soundtrack song. 9. Almost any Chicago hit penned by and sung by Peter Cetera. 10. Any song on the Rolling Stones "Their Satanic Majesties Request". If I only had a nickel for every time I've heard these songs being endlessly touted as "bad"...

Top 10 Things I Will Never Understand 1. Why is Keith Richards still alive? 2. Why did Keith Richards add the s? 3. Why does everyone complain about Nickelback but nobody ever does anything about it? 4. Why do so many middle-aged men who have listened to loud music most of their lives still insist they can hear frequencies above 16kHz? 5. Why has the accordion not played a larger role in the evolution of rock music? 6. When will Neil Young finally realize nobody cares about genetically modified food? 7. How does Ronnie Wood get his hair to stand up like that? 8. Why is it considered more virtuous to recover from addiction than to not get addicted in the first place? 9. Was Blur vs. Oasis really a thing? 10. Why were the Modern Lovers never a thing?
A great list! If I may, I would also add... 1. Why are remixes and deluxe boxes endlessly bashed towards those who ARE enjoying them, when the power is in the hands of the bashers - just don't buy them or play them! 2. Why is violence "cool" or credible in music, but sex is seen as criminal or juvenille? 3. What does the way an artist look have to do with whether you ultimately like the music or not? 4. Why is "new music" automatically applauded just because it's the latest thing? 5. Why DID Ringo push that button? 6. Why is it the fault of a great album that you burned out on it? And why didn't you choose to listen to something you liked INSTEAD of getting burnt out on it? 7. Why are the ones who are bashing groups as being immature or "made for kids" the ones that come off as the "kids"? 8. Why does no one suddenly have an "argument" when you bring up the 90% of quality music Led Zeppelin wrote and DIDN'T steal? 9. Why is it more important to care what others like than what you like? 10. Why do I type so many of these damn lists!
4. I can hear that frequency. The problem is that I hear it all the time. All good questions except #5.
#5 is actually a good question. Accordions are good drone instruments, and more doom metal, shoegaze, goth rock, and Velvets-inspired acts should try to make use of them.
