Hope FM feel some guilt. Isn't he the youngest (ex) member? This really stinks but if it was due to cocaine the rest of The Mac would be six foot under by now. Stress can't have helped but it could be hereditary.

Why in God's name should FM "feel some guilt"? One chooses their own path in life.

Hoping Lindsey has a speedy full recovery. I lost my voice for a week after my double bypass a year ago, but I'm back to my cantankerous self now.

I agree. To be honest, this news doesn't surprise me given his age and the fact that both his father and older brother died of a heart attack. Given his family's medical history, this is probably something he has been keeping his eye on for awhile and he decided to take the necessary precautions at the first sign of trouble. In any case, I'm relieved that he is recovering well. Hopefully, the damage to his vocal cords isn't permanent.

This is never something you want to see about one of your favorite musicians (although it's better than the alternative). Wishing Lindsey a full and speedy recovery.

Glad he is recovering from the heart surgery, as far as vocal chords go, who cares. If he has his life that’s the main deal. He’s not Pavarotti

Well, Bowie was also Thin and he had Heart Disease and Surgery for it around 2004-5 before died eventually from Cancer(although Bowie was a Smoker, that I assume played a part in his Heart Disease, and no idea if LB was a Smoker in the past or even currently, but as mentioned, his Family History of Death to Heart Disease also is a factor).

While stress can contribute to heart disease its most likely clogged up arteries. And who knows how much damage was done during the cocaine years. Heart attacks happen. Scarey stuff, glad he made it through. Many dont even make it to the table.

I had a friend in the music biz who heavily indulged in the "booger sugar" for a decade and then quit. When he had a massive heart attack two decades later (and a quadruple bypass), a cardiac specialist told me that with some habits - poor diet, smoking, no exercise - you can change for the better, reverse some of the negative effects, and improve your health. But the miles you put on your heart with speed and coke can never be rolled back. So even if you quit doing them decades ago, the damage cannot be undone.

This was a total shock since he is the youngest Rumours-era band member. However I had totally forgotten about his brother and father dying early from heart issues, so I probably shouldn't have been so surprised.

As far as his voice goes - even if its permanently damaged he can just produce albums for others (I doubt he'd have any trouble finding work). Also he has his guitar playing to fall back on - not to mention his songwriting. Again I can't see him wanting for work as a guitar player or songwriter/co-songwriter for others.

Or of course he can pack it all in and just enjoy whatever time he has left. Hopefully its a long time - but who knows since he's already outlived his dad by over a decade, and his brother by over two decades.

OTOH he's definitely rich enough to afford the absolute top notch healthcare in the world, so perhaps he'll stick around for many years to come - whether its making music or not.

Yeah, and amazing Bowie put out some of his Best Music(Berlin Trilogy and 2 Albums with Iggy Pop) at that time. Amazed he and others who did a lot of cocaine did not die during those years. Keith Richards must have some Great Genes to have survived this long.

Kinda puts on perspective how petty kicking him out of the band is.

    Get well soon, LB.
