My family came to what was then the southwestern frontier early in the 19th century & over the years lost any connection to their heritage. The part of Tennessee they settled in is still a very rural area of hills, narrow valleys & small farms. Luckily, my father decided to leave the farm after serving in WWII. Otherwise, no me. (My mother's family was from the same area but had "moved to town" in the 20s.)
I have the original Omega CDs from the 90s, as well a bunch of the other Everest reissues. Good sound.
This one may be an exception as it was recorded in Tanglewood where there has been an annual summer festival, as noted on the bottom of the CD cover.
I believe they put out a few non-reissue CDs. Vanguard, which was co-founded by Seymour & Maynard Solomon, was sold to the Welk Music Group in 1986. In 1988 Seymour founded Omega & later was able to buy back Vanguard's classical catalog as well as acquiring the rights to the Everest catalog. I have 48 of Omega's Everest CDs & 43 of their Vanguard CDs. The Vanguard catalog later was sold to Artemis Records & I have some of their reissues as well as bunch of Vanguard reissues from the 90s put out in the Netherlands. All of these reissues are good quality.
My Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather was Bonaventura, an Italian who came to England and married an English lass in 1603. The family name changed subtly, conveniently, around that time. It was probably unwise to live in England with a foreigm name in those days. You may have been suspected of being a spy and Queen Lizzy would have chopped off your head !! Talking of which, here's a story my fellow forumites might enjoy : Monkey hanger - Wikipedia

She's one of my favorite pianists, a delightful human and incredible talent. Tragic that she has this horrible disease. On a lighter note, I really wish DG would release her albums on vinyl. I'm enjoying their new vinyl releases. dan c
I am still waiting for her first CD where she recorded the works of no more than two composers. I just do not like recordings with works by umpteen composers ...
Now playing CD3 - Toccata and Fugue, Fugue in G, Chorale Prelude, Jesu, Joy of Men's Desiring BWV 147, Chaconne in D, etc. from the following box for a first listen ...
