Some full length Berlin Philharmonic concerts are on YouTube, I don't think this one is, but it's still free. 8 May 2011 BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER CLAUDIO ABBADO Gustav Mahler Symphony No. 10 Adagio (performing version by Deryck Cooke) Gustav Mahler Das Lied von der Erde (67 min.) Anne Sofie von Otter Mezzo-Soprano, Jonas Kaufmann Tenor Mahler: Lied von der Erde | Digital Concert Hall
There are a couple there right now listed as "like new" for about $70, which seems on the high side, but you can get the individual discs for $4-10 each it looks like used on Amazon or Discogs. Highly recommended.
This doesn't seem to be on Discogs, so I can't look at the track lists, but I imagine there's some overlap with the "Early Recordings" set.
On the turntable: Not easy listening, but I've always found this interesting. I bought this LP (used) back in my college days, when I was still learning about classical music. It would drive floor mates in the dorm crazy when I played it, but, this has always seemed more approachable to me than its reputation says.
I'm slightly embarrassed by your LPs photos, guys. What could I photograph - this (?!): Ok, but seriously - now playing (24-88): A wonderful performance!
Been listening to Classical all day, time for some loud rock 'n' roll. @royzak2000 wish we could do some shots together.
Stravinsky: Symphony of Psalms/Les Noces. Ansermet, Orch. Suisse Romande. UK London ffrr Not trying to embarrass our forum buddy Sphinx with these LPs. He' should be proud of his hi rez listening anyway.
First listen to CD 19 from "Wilhelm Kempff - Solo Piano Recordings" on DG. Chopin: Sonata no 2 Op. 58 Ballade no 3 Op. 47 Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise brillante Op. 22 Fantaisie Op. 49 Polonaise-Fantaisie Op. 61
I can relate to that! Moving from Bach to Trane to Metallica in my case can take less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately 6-7 years ago alcohol started to just make me sleepy so I stopped drinking at all. Nowadays piece of tiramisu cake is able to make me a little ..drunk.. My friends say: 'Don't eat tiramisu and drive!' Anyway - cheers!
My normal alcohol consumption is 2 beers per week. I drink whiskey maybe 3/4 times a year and usually never alone, but we live in unique times.
Ah, tiramisu and whisky (single malt, that is). Love both and two things I'm not allowed to have anymore... I still have half a bottle of The Glenlivet Archive, smells great.
Listening to CD 4 from "Beethoven - 9 Symphonies"performed by the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique led by John Elliot Gardiner box set on Archiv. Symphonies Nos. 7 & 8
On Spotify during my daily get-out-of-the-house-during-the-shutdown neighborhood walk ... Schubert's D. 960 piano sonata.
On the turntable: I keep coming back to this one--excellent music, excellent performances, excellent sound quality.
