So there is, thanks. I haven't visited this thread for a few days so I missed it. Nice write up. I, too, hope he records it--sounds like an interesting piece. I have a few recordings by Kuuisto--he's a phenomenal player.

I just ordered four of his recordings from Presto -- or so I thought. I realized after placing the order that both his father and older brother are performers. Seems I ordered two by Pekka Kuusisto and one each by his father and brother....
I have this. I thought the sound exceptionally good and have commented on it here before (a long time ago).

Some early Halloween listening... Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique (1962 recording) Boston Symphony Orchestra & Charles Munch RCA [SACD, JPN] Best sonic incarnation of this classic I've heard to date - this will replace my JVC XRCD (which sounded very good in its own right). This performance is better than the earlier 1954 performance, and not just because of the improved sound. There's more excited, committed phrasing throughout. The BSO sounds engaged here - sometimes a problem during Munch's tenure, but this music is firmly in his proverbial wheelhouse, and the players sound alert. Great stuff!
First listen to CD 15 from "Rudolf Serkin - The Complete Columbia Album Collection" on Sony Brahms - Concerto No. 1 with the Cleveland Orchestra / George Szell 1954.
