Written by Porter Wagoner. Beautiful vocal by Dolly Parton. Evocative lyrics. I woke up this morning in a strange place I looked into the mirror at a strange face Then I looked for you, but you could not be found And then I felt the lonely coming down I walked across the room to the empty bed Saw the imprint on the pillow where you laid your head The presence of you still lingered all around And once again I felt the lonely coming down
With the current state of country music as it is, I've re-evaluated numerous songs and artists from previous decades and have come to accept the fact that not every artist can live up to the quality of legends such as Merle Haggard, but it doesn't prevent me from enjoying other artists within the broad spectrum of country music. The multi-platinum 1990s country group Little Texas had numerous enjoyable songs. With big hair and excellent guitar work, one of their many hits was the genre-crossing single 'What Might Have Been,' a power ballad which continues to receive airplay on both adult contemporary and country radio stations to this day. Little Texas continue to tour and deliver an energetic live show, frequently performing at small clubs and outdoor music events. 'You And Forever And Me' by Little Texas
Montgomery Gentry. A big blow losing Troy in the helicopter crash not long back. These guys made some solid Country Rock albums during the 90's that got many plays from me. Can't even think of a favorite song, but this one springs up. A duet with the great Hank Jr.
While not being an American, when I saw this video about 'Confederate Railroad' and the reason they were cancelled, really makes we wonder what is going on in this world? 2019 and this is what is going on? While everyone should be becoming more closer with 'education and learning and freedom of speech' etc etc, one more thing comes along that divide's people. Political correctness? or whatever it is..... 'CF' really delivered an honorable statement.
Definitely. Apart from their radio hits, I'm not terribly familiar with Confederate Railroad and their backstory. Based on the sound of their music, it's likely the band chose this name to evoke a southern rock vibe. This situation seems to be a prime example of revisionism in which certain individuals are attempting to rewrite history by erasing it altogether. I suspect the long-running Scottish metal band Holocaust will probably be the next p.c. target.
