Found this at a shop in Vienna yesterday: To be exact, a japanese CD edition from the late 80s. There's really sublime playing on here and a fantastic choice of tracks very, very glad I spontaneously bought this hidden gem.
I share their rage at abuse of power and obstruction of justice. That's all I'll say. Right now Dexter Gordon, "Our Man in Paris," Blue Note Japan 24 bit by RVG LP facsimile cd.
As I mentioned to another forum member recently, Higgins is the dancing-est MF behind a kit that I've ever heard. When he's locked in and the guys playing are all going for it too, it's pure joy.
Byard, I believe, was shot in the face. Just as horrible as Wilson's murder, from what I know of those details. Yes, Olu is either the father or uncle of Nas, I believe father. Olu was on two Henry Threadgill albums I co-produced in the '80's. The Hat album is in Wilson's name but it's principally duos. If duos are what you're interested in you should look for a copy of that album with Lester Bowie. Obviously your call on whether you want the reissue or the mint vinyl. Corbett v. Dempsey does a nice job with their reissues. Lester Bowie / Phillip Wilson - Duet
Pretty sure it is... off the top of my head, the Machito is included in the Verve Charlie Parker box, not sure about the O'Farrill... I'm listening to the disc that is part of this excellent box: https://www.amazon.co.jp/Latin-Jazz...タカナ&keywords=latin+jazz&qid=1575583215&sr=8-2
I don't have any objection to your & others references to current events, but someone questioned a post of mine recently & it was removed for being "political".
I didn't know about Wilson's death & it saddens me. I bought the Butterfield Band's 'The Resurrection of Pigboy Crabshaw' when I was in high school c. 1968/69 & have loved it ever since.
Indeed. I was deliberately walking a tightrope--though I think there was nothing objectionable at least in the first quoted passage. If these go away I won't protest. But it was "conversation" to me. I'm having a lot of them lately.
The robots are a strong political force these days. Don’t march against them. By resolving to not watch the news in ‘19, or TV, I gained ample time to allow Jazz to grab me and energize me. The many results of what seemed like a crazy idea at the time make my ‘20 resolution an easy repeater. Deeper into jazz and enjoyment of living, and further away from the sheer nonsense.
I can see the advantages of your approach. I try to limit my time following the news; otherwise it would eat me alive, but I can't give it up altogether.
Ah I did see that then. Don't personally feel that would be "removable worthy," but my opinion doesn't matter as I see it according to the rules.
I hear ya! I still read and parsing through “news” is time consuming in itself. I’m thinking positive thoughts, spinning Sonny Clark at the moment, and trying my best to forget that there is an 11 month election coming up. Luckily we all have common ground here.
I had a post deleted too but clearly its because I am the potential destination of @vanhooserd ( I was surprised, first time that’s happened to me)
