NP - Black Fire Heavenly Sweetness version. I don’t think I’ve ever played this LP, still in the shrink wrap, was waiting to get a decent turntable, sounds wonderful

Gene Harris on piano is so good. As are Ray Brown, Gerryck King, Red Holloway and Emily Remler. Really good audiophile recording, too.

I agree that this is pretty much an audiophile pressing. I found a nice copy a couple of years ago cheap in a small store.

I have been playing a lot more guitar since retiring. Tonight's session with friends lasted till after midnight. I can't remember the last time I played that late. Loving retirement and being able to do what I want to do when I want to do it. Freedom.

Spent some time stringing lights on the Christmas tree yesterday but instead of Christmas music I revisited some classic material in the development of the 'new thing' from 1960-1962:

This Is Our Music, rec. July & August 1960

The World of Cecil Taylor, rec. Oct. 1960

    Free Jazz, rec. Dec. 1960

"Four," a CT performance with Albert Ayler from Danish TV, Nov 1962

Town Hall, 1962, rec. Dec. 1962

For the last few days I've mostly been listening to Jazz playlist on shuffle. Sometimes it is a real interesting mix as it is this morning.

Got up early and listened to "Coltrane plays the blues " from the Atlantic-in Mono box. It's similar to "lush life" as it was compiled and released after Coltrane was on Impulse and was a major star.
Now I'm out in the hot tub, which feels great on a 32 degree morning

In my audio video system I often listen to the Spectrum "jazz channel," and they play some nice material, and in quite good sound. I also have gotten my wife to enjoy the "Soundscapes" channel and that allows me to get more use out of my system and is also getting her to be accustomed to and really enjoy the sound of the system. A nice late in the year development.
