Was the U2 "Walk on the Wild Side" part of a medley with "Bad/Ruby Tuesday" or is my memory all screwed up as usual?

And no U2's "Bad"?? Where Bono slow dances at the end with the tearful young ladies??

    Shurely shome mishtake. :shake:

And no sultry Sade's "Is This A Crime?" Now, that's a crime.

No matter what they choose, people will complain unless the whole thing is released, and that won't happen. So, we still have our tapes!

With all of these omissions, I'm going to pass on it. What a bummer. Personally, to NOT include U2's 'Bad' is my biggest disappointment. This will be just another "cut-out" bound mess of a release with all of these omissions. Why even bother releasing it, now.

This track line-up can't be final, there's just too much omitted. I'll reserve judgement until something official comes up.

  6. Another bad part of the finale was Patti LaBelle trying to steal the thunder from the "mumblers". She was screaching like a banchee. Really p****d me off.

How do you think I felt, I was there! ;)

The only thing I could do was sit down on the field, and wait it out...

  8. I was there too. Thought a "cool" finale would be a good ending to a brutally hot day.

Although I'd love to have the whole thing, I'm thrilled that Get Ready by the Temptations with Hall & Oates, as well as In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins (He did a killer version, solo on piano, of that song, and, unlike all other versions performed this way I have heard, the audience actually got the drum break right. It gave me goosebumps!). I'd have loved to have View To a Kill by duran Duran (good guitar work), but what can you do? I'm happy with what we're getting, since it's more than I ever thought I'd see released in my lifetime.

What!? No Hooters??!! They opened the US show (sort of)!

I think people are getting too bent out of shape by the posted setlist. Even the site itself says it's unconfirmed - why not wait until we know FACTS to spaz out about the DVD?

    Oh, I forgot - it's the Internet! :D

Who ever made up that list on the other site must have confused Bad with Walk because they did a good size chunk of Wild during Bad and also good size chunks of Ruby Tuesday/Devil which looks like a royality nightmare.

  12. (I may be the only one.)

I hope the DVDs will just be the performances minus the MTV and the indie feed, banter. I thought a few times during the day, those announcers/VJs were more than silly, especially the guy from MTV who was a bit over the top when Page, Plant, Jones, and company took the stage. "Ahhhhh they're gonna do Stairway!!!!!!!!" Really?

"Macca Re-Records Let It Be For Charity

Sir Paul McCartney has re-recorded his performance of Let It Be for a special
Live Aid DVD. The veteran rocker's original performance was supposed to have
marked the climax of the 1985 event. But due to a technical hitch on the day his
    microphone went dead.

Macca wants to be a part of Sir Bob Geldof's DVD - so he went back to the studio
    to get it right".

    - very wise and timely decision !!! I just wonder why former LED ZEPPELIN crew does not do the same ???

Simon Lebon could re-record his vocals as well.

But the thing is, Macca re-recorded his vocal BACK IN 1985, the day after the actual performance. It was done for a then anticipated video release, which never occured. It was used for a BBC Live Aid highlights show the following December.

Why they're bringing it up and making it look like something McCartney just did is anybody's guess.

Hopefully this isn't a complete list--there is a LOT omitted here, especially with this claming to be a four-DVD set. Seems to me each band did three or four songs, and yet some are represented here by only one or two songs, if they're not MIA. *sigh* I might have to look "elsewhere" to get the complete set I'm looking for, if this is indeed a correct listing.

Certainly didn't look right to me, but knowing how these releases can go, I wouldn't be too surprised if there were changes.

I may see if my Live Aid book has all of the setlists in it--might be interesting for comparison when the DVDs do come out.

I was at the Philly concert and had VCR(s) running at home for three
different feeds (MTV, free broadcast, and ABC).

Every band did NOT do three of four songs. Some artists, in fact,
did as little as one song.

Overall, I'm surprised that the yet-to-be-verified setlist shown above
is as deep as it is.

My biggest complaint with it is that it somehow pretends there
wasn't a conflict during the morning hours (9 AM to noon - Philly
time) and it appears to throw some of those morning Philly artists into
a nighttime slot that didn't exist...

The concert basically ran this way:

London two hours (Noon - London, 7 AM Philly)
London/Philly conflict three hours (9 AM Philly, 2 PM London)
London and Philly tag team for 5 hours (Noon - Philly - 5 PM London)
London finale (10 PM London time - 5 PM Philly time)
    Philly three hours (5-8 PM)
Philly three hours (primetime broadcast on ABC - 8 PM to 11 PM)

The tag team thing in the middle was both stadiums were set up
to watch the other stadium's performers. Basically an act in Philly
followed by an act in the UK, repeat for 5 hours.

Three hours prior to the tag team approach, the two concerts
were in competition - and the tv broadcast had to decide what
it felt like showing. For example, I believe MTV showed Elvis
Costello and the syndicated broadcast did not.

I seem to recall a dead zone in the broadcast for two hours (6 PM
to 8 PM in Philly) when the free broadcast stopped transmitting.
But I could be wrong about that.

There were also broadcasts from Austrailia and the USSR - but
I don't believe those were shown in either stadium.

Other wierd thing was the Philly concert was opened by a kid
from the parking lot. Bill Graham apparently took a shine to
a guy who had been outside all week and let him play on stage
by himself before Joan Baez hit the stage to sing Amazing Graze
and before The Hooters (who had the first proper set in Philadelphia).

The parking lot guy never made it on TV - but he is in the official
color photo coffee table book as a performer.

For what it's worth - his song wasn't that great and neither
was his voice - but no one booed.

Okay, I'm officially going to throw a conniption fit whenever anyone pays any attention to the posted setlist. It's bogus! Of course, some parts of it will be correct, but why would anyone pay attention to a setlist that touts the inclusion of songs that weren't played? It'll never be verified unless Mick Jagger gets in a time machine, goes back to 1985, and plays "Ruthless People" - he sure didn't do it the first time...

    Maybe I need to relax...

This track list seems a bit more accurate. Still no Zep, but Elton's set is back onboard:

The tracklisting for the Live Aid DVD will include the bonus footage from Australia featuring INXS and Holland featuring BB King.

Although the event was held simultaneously in London and Philadelphia, there were crosses via satellite to various countries including Sydney, Australia where INXS performed 'Don't Change' and 'What You Need' for the global audience.

The historic Live Aid event took place on July 13, 1985. It was put together by Bob Geldof to raise money for the starving in Africa. He later earned a knighthood for his work.

The complete concert (minus a performance by Led Zeppelin who refused to allow their footage to be used on this charity DVD) will be released by Warner Vision on November 8.

The complete tracklisting (with just a Run-DMC track still to be cleared is:

Interesting, but I have two questions:

    1. Didn't Rick Springfield perform at Live Aid? If he did (And I believe he did) He isn't on this DVD
    2. Didn't Hall and Oates perform "Out Of Touch"? I don't see this listed either.
