Absolutely. I think he was on R&R for half the season, and even then, he would get pissed when Klinger would call him to ask him anything about his job. I don't think he cracked a smile once in his last season, even when he was talking to Patty Haven at the airport. Then when he got back to the 4077th and found out he was going home, he acted like a complete arsehole and wouldn't show Klinger how to do anything, he just said "you're the company clerk now". I think by this point in the show he was looking and sounding every bit the grumpy old 40-something that he was in real life.

Yeah, I have to believe that this was at Burghoff's behest to make Radar more serious and less naíve than he had been throughout the show. It didn't work. It just made him really unlikeable and it didn't feel authentic or organic in the least.

When I listened to Alan Alda's podcast referenced upthread, Jamie Farr said that he kept and still has those fuzzy pink slippers!

Another favorite of mine is from season 3, titled "Deal Me Out." Card game and a half, which includes one of my favorite actors, Pat Morita. The subject comes to Klinger enlisting while guys are playing cards and Klinger says---

"When they came for me, I ran like a thief right into Grand Central Station and the recruiters trapped me in a pay toilet. Cost them $4 in nickels to get me out! During the physical they jammed me with a coat hanger to get me to cough!"

That episode with the "obnoxious cowboy surgeon" was actually pretty funny. Some of his dialogue was hilarious!

Another I will use occasionally is this rejoinder from Hawkeye:
"A device has yet to be invented that will measure my indifference to this remark."
I also just watched an episode with a bunch of funny stuff Margaret says to the nurses before their physical exam. Her whole speech was typically cut out of the old syndie episodes.
"I will give you the preliminary exam and then the doctors will go to work on you...you are women... desirable women...most of you...further they can do nothing, nothing when you are alone with them but give you a good going over". All the while giving these pauses as she realizes what she is saying.

Good one! That happened to be George Lindsay, playing surgeon Roy Dupree. Lindsay was best known as Goober on the Andy Griffith Show. As this is a music related message board., Lindsay happened to record a couple lp's on Capital in the late 60's--"Goober Sings" and "Ninety Six Miles from Bakersfield." He played up the hick character well, but an item on Wikipedia caught my attention with him. He hosted several celebrity golf tournaments through his foundation over the years and donated well over $1,000,000 to the Alabama Special Olympics.

Just use one of those standard S-1798s and write in "pizza" where it says "machine gun."

They're searching for the dog who bit Radar and discover a Korean family may have eaten it

Radar "How could they do that, eat a dog?"
Henry "Must have been a hell of a bun."

One could almost argue that there were 3 Radars. The Lovable Radar which we all know and love was kind of like the second one and then of course the above referenced with his attitude change towards the end of his run is Radar #3.

If you remember back to the original movie, Burghoff played Radar as anything but naive. He was quite a little mover and shaker.
