With the release of the 38-CD complete Woodstock box set, I started wondering if Rhino might consider doing the same thing with The Monkees. Would you buy a massive box set containing their entire Monkees catalogue in chronological order? Would this be especially appealing for those who missed out on the Rhino HandMade Super Deluxe Edition(s)?

It might take that many discs with all of the alternate and re-mixes. But, yes, I would buy such a set. Only after Andrew and Rhino finish the "Headquarters" and "Pisces" 3-CD super deluxe sets.

With the new and updated version on Mr Sandoval's book as well as the odds and sods that he might have discovered in the years since the HandMade releases became available ... there could be a handful of exclusive tracks maybe and a bunch of new information.

Only if there is a significant amount of quality unreleased stuff included would I buy a mega box.
With the recent Rhino box sets of teh first two albums, it's obvious there are still lots of backing tracks that have never been reissued. Also with some of the remixes on those two sets, lots of multitracks still exist which means lots more tracks could be remixed and reissued at any given time for any given new release. I doubt we've seen the bottom of the barrel (full of Monkees). I myself would only buy a mega box if they found the production mastertape for the mono Birds, Bees lp and included a remastered version.

Agreed. Always thought it was strange that the "Birds" mono LP master just disappeared. Even more, I would love to hear a synched-up all stage tapes mix of "Last Train to Clarksville", but that's one of a handful of tracks from the first album with no surviving multis. How about Mike's "Pinball Machine"?

Without a doubt! He has so much more from each of the sets...he just keeps finding more and more! Can't wait for his updated book!

    I agree

My dream release would be either of the following two:

1 - a box set just like the Nilsson box with 3 or more discs of whatever is left and the missing links series

2 - a Complete Masters just like the Elvis set. It'd include everything that's been released and whatever is left releasable from the Vaults

  11. NO I think Monkees reissues of any kind are pretty much tapped out... That ship has sailed.

I got the ten cd box.
    That's enough for me.
I like their stuff, but I prefer Nesmith's solo work to be honest

Only if it was filled with a lot of session material, more like The Headquarters Sessions set than the Super Deluxe boxes with all of the alternate mixes, etc.

How about all of us who already have all of the Rhino Handmade boxes, we'd have to buy it all again?

I’d be tempted...but I’d probably buy something by The Beatles instead.

Yes, because they've added the previously unearthed version of "Your Auntie Grizelda" sung in Cantonese. You know you want it!

I used to have a pinball machine when I was a kid. I'm sure the track will bring back fond memories :)

I'd buy several dozen Monkees before I'd buy a Woodstock

Use bluray disks, keep the price down, and they'd sell a bunch.

For The Monkees, to be truly “complete”, they’d have to include BluRays or DVDs of the entire TV series, also.
    With outtakes.
