Mats on acrylic platters, +/-

    I have a new table - Clearaudio - what are the + / - for usinga mat on the platter........

    Yours is desinged to use without a mat? Other older designs have had improvements of changing the mats (Felt or sorbothane or other) to acrilic versions, because the material is more similar to the vinyl. SO I think you should keep it that way.
    You could try to get a cheap felt mat, just to hear the differences for yourself. If you get one that is not from an audiofile brand it should not be to expensive and might be worth trying.

    One disadvantage is that is degrades the look of your turntable. And you have to re-adjust VTA.

    I still have an old DJ felt mat, which I will try on my Oracle Delphi, and I will try to describe the difference to you
    (BTW a real advantage of a felt mat is that you can use it for scratching but I wouldn't reccomend that ;) )
