With the quality of your equipment, go ahead and buy the MMF-7, that will save you money in the long run. There's a lot of used records out there for cheap!
If you're considering spending $1K you may wish to take a look at a VPI HW 19 Jr with RB 300 - it's the same range and can be upgraded gradually at a later point. Best Regards, ~Michael~
If you can swing the extra cash, then the 7 is by far the better buy. From my own experience and from what I've read, the 5 is a crap shoot as far as construction goes. I've heard and touched a 7 and it seems to be a far better build. Sounds great too. But maybe you don't want to buy new, check Audiogon. They're for sale all the time. Dan C
I highly recommend the MMF-7 over the MMF-5. I upgraded to an MMF-7 from the MMF-5 last summer and noticed a definite improvement in sound. For the money it's a great deal. Shop around the web and check out classifieds on Audiogon. I picked up my MMF-7 for about $875.
