Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab has been cutting vinyl from digital since a long, long time ago...

309 pages in less than 10 days. Impressive.

The banner itself suggests it. It implies they are mastering it from the original... well, MASTER.
I know, they were not lying. Just implying. And they did it knowingly.

I'd be curious to know if he reached out to you as he (presumably) did to that other Youtuber?

I think what they implied is that computers and digital technology are not Bernie's field of expertise. And that is definitely true.

The cost of which is typically spread out over a 2 year service agreement. Not the same thing at all.

  6. No. Nobody reached out to me aside from the solicitors who rang my doorbell yesterday despite the No Solicitors sign out front.

If someone does end up taking them to court over this it would be fine by me. I do not want to see MOFI taken down but that may be the only way in the future for record companies to not mislead their customers.

Agree. But their customers abandoning their prejudice and preconceived notions would be a huge advance too. No more niche markets based on scientific inaccuracies, please.

How about they are made to press 20,000 copies of each 1 step so far released and issue them for $5 each :)

I like the super vinyl Abraxas idea. Adjust the prices and be exact in the descriptions. Be overly above board. As documented in this forum they do good stuff. Rather than a hundred do 30 bucks.

This revelation can bring clarity to all reissues with a standard label on all albums.

The OS1 represents the rhythm section better. Mood for a Day sounds amazing.

I'd like to see them reach an accommodation with past customers but that may be too much. Usually companies react rather than get ahead of things like this. I hope they get a good crisis consultant- if WaPo is going to do a hit piece, it will not be good. FWIW, I have no axe to grind, my views are it was deceptive, I'm not a big buyer of these, though I do buy a lot of records, mostly older and some quite rare. I never buy for investment-- I buy 'em to play 'em. Yeah, I've bought multiple copies of things sometimes- just to give away to youngins who don't have the wherewithal (yet).

I think Fremer has come off like a complete jerk in this whole thing. Attacking Esposito the way he did but trying to say he wasn't was ridiculous. He was clearly jealous not to have been invited. Also, claiming that he would have gotten to the bottom of it? I doubt it. He has been carrying water for MFSL for years. Only now is he opening up to what he suspected all along. Well sure the heat is on MOFI so he wasn't the one to expose them but now he can throw as much shade as he wants. Two somewhat negative reviews previously doesn't really establish his objectivity, he would have more credibility if he reviewed more poor editions of them. I think it's pretty clear, Fremer has nurtured relationships with labels and industry people for decades and wants his share of the pie. He didn't get it this time with MOFI, some other "fanboy" (as he said) got the interview. Further, in one of those MOFI vids he just did he goes off on a rant about getting promo copies, etc. He comes off as an angry old guy who is pissed that others are now on his turf. It's too bad because he certainly has a lot of knowledge, but in this whole controversy he has come off like a dick!

Most people know Fremer can be volatile. I think the best advice I could give him is to play the emeritus vinyl guy- he should help, rather than snark, at the younger, up and coming folks and be graceful. (His short history of MoFi, going back to the train record is an example). That's the way to age out as a specialist. I have a friend who must be 85 years old, still active, but he's very involved in the new generation's activities, making guest appearances, supporting and guiding them. And my friend is "quirky" to say the least. Quirky is fine in my book, it's when malice is attached that it gets ugly.

    you're 100% correct.

As I've openly asked in this forum (and to him directly on more than one occasion), I'm interested in understanding his background simply because of his impressive rise in VC circles as an expert who's now finding himself being included in public discussions with industry professional who have documented backgrounds in the space of one form or another. As I've also said, if he's simply a nice bloke with an endless stream of money - and even a tin ear - who am I to tell others not to watch him?

That isn't the point to my question, it's an honest inquiry as to what qualifies him as someone mentioned in the same space as any of the other Mikes. Hell, the Poetry on Plastic young man's channel I found a few days ago, IMHO, has passed onto me more qualified insight and opinion on both the medium and the hardware in <10 videos than the however many I've watched of 45Mike's soothing pleasantries.

Maybe 45Mike is some generational audio industry vet with both an electrical engineering and audio mastering background and the finest ear in the land. I dunno, that's why I asked. I don't have to do that with any of the other people participating in these much-covered discussions. But if he's getting interviewed by WaPo, I'd like to think the journalist will provide some of this info to establish his place in the debate?

Maybe I'm the only one who's curious and suppose it's not of importance and my asking is more annoying to the group than it is of interest to me as an individual. *shrugs*

I see your from Phoenix Arizona. You friends with Mike E? Know him? How old are you?
Im 56. Definitely in the old guy category. I appreciate Fremer’s knowledge and ability to communicate. Mike E seems articulate too.
