Hard to believe after all these years, we are finally down to the last six titles.
My copies should be delivered today.

Is there a code needed? I looked earlier and didn't see the sale going on.

Just before the deadline it seems... placed an order for Judgment and Mode For Joe. I've got some listening ahead of me.

COOL! I got Lee Morgan: Candy MM 45 RPM brand new , AP 45 Fantasy "Quiet Kenny" brand new and AP 45 Fantasy "Standard Coltrane" , which was used but in Mint - , so practically new for less $$. :agree::tiphat: At 10% off all of these titles, I am a happy camper!

These are outstanding. It's a revelation to hear Hill--either "Point of Departure" or "Judgement"--after MM has done it's magic. PoD is, without a doubt, one of my favorite in the collection. I have "Mode for Joe" as well, and think it eeks out "Inner Urge."

Yes, Point of Departure is one of my favorites from this series... I can't wait to see how Judgment sounds.

Any recommendations for a mono album in the MM series that's readily available? I was thinking Lee Morgan's "Vol. 3," but am open to suggestions.

At least these aren't gone for good once you listen. Both get you drunk, though.

Monos I really like based on music, roughly in descending order

    Sonny Rollins - Vol 1
Johnny Griffin - A Blowin Session
Clifford Brown - Memorial Album (not the best choice if sound quality is a high priority)
    Kenny Dorham - Afro Cuban
    Lee Morgan - Vol 3

I think my fav mono from MM is "The Magnificent Thad Jones. Astonishing sound quality.

Some good mono recommandations are listed here above....

    I would also suggest:
    Sonny Rollins Vol 1
    Johnny Griffins Blowin Session
    The Magnificient Thad Jones
and as a not mentioned album I put the Lee Morgan-Indeed! in the picture.

and I agree the Clifford Brown is a rather boring album if you played it three times...

Beyond having the same rich and yummy sonics, ROYAL FLUSH ranks right up there with THE CAT WALK for me in terms of music, a terrific one-two punch by Byrd and Adams. Interesting how much the young Herbie Hancock's playing AND writring on ROYAL FLUSH sounds so similar to Duke Pearson's parallel work on THE CAT WALK. I'd probably give the nod to CAT WALK simply due to a bit more variety (ROYAL FLUSH for me does suffer a bit due to lack of variation in tempos/moods), but these are both wonderful, and sonically two of the absolute best sounding titles in the Music Matters 45 rpm vinyl series.

Bring on more titles for us Music Matters!!!

These 5 have not been mentioned. All mono, all superb.

I just finished listening to Royal Flush. This is an amazing title, and now one of my favorites from Music Matters. Lee Morgans' The Gigolo is great too, but I don't think it's as good as the Byrd.

Thanks for the mono recs, everyone. More options than I initially considered, but with MM reissues, that's a nice problem to have.

That Kenny Dorham at the Bohemia gets an emphatic +1 from me. It's hard to believe that such an old recording was captured so well. This is the sleeper of the entire series.

That Mobley is a 10" LP, what is it paired with?
    Is Candy mono or stereo?
The original Blue Note LP was mono only, the first stereo issue was a Sunset LP.
