An ex-colleague, also 25, has never heard of Bob Dylan.

This is mine. I was also in my early twenties when it happened.

No music in my case. I'm in my mid 50s and a large percentage of my listening has always been to new stuff, with no genre restrictions.

What makes me feel old sometimes is exercising. "Man, I don't remember this seeming so exhausting before." Or "Wait--I was really only going an average of x mph while biking?!? :sigh:" (said while looking at my stats on my watch). Stuff like that.

I'm also noticing my energy and recovery is just not like 10 years ago. I keep telling myself that it's just my needing to drop 10 pounds, but I know deep in my soul that this is just simply called aging.

    It really sucks!

Not the music so much, but the announcement of anniversary editions of albums I bought as new. The 30th anniversary edition of R.E.M.'s GREEN really . . . bothered me. Because I bought that as an "adult" -- out of the house and working full time -- and could remember the details, even taking an unallowed break to buy it before the music store closed.

I agree, it's totally ridicules that Green is even 25 years old. Joshua Tree and those later albums being 30 years old is completely unacceptable.

When I realize that Marilyn Manson and Creed technically qualify as “Classic Rock”.

Schubert died at 31. That's got to make anyone in their thirties feel bad about their accomplishments in life.

Last week I tried to explain that the Bee Gees are cool by referring to Destiny’s Child covering Emotion. I stopped when I found out also DC’s version is already 17 years old. :help:

Music that makes me feel old?

Auld Lang Syne. Maybe. Might make me think of the years. Looking back can be nice - looking forwards is much better.

But I don’t feel old. I feel lucky and blessed. Music will never make me feel old, it might more often than not remind me of the vitality of the time it was released or the relevance to my life when it touched me.

Every day is precious. Don’t waste it.

For me it's the fact some pop stars are not just younger than me but in some cases were born after I'd started making music. I'm sure some of you get a similar feeling.

My ex hadn't heard of The Smiths but that's more them being sheltered, most of my peers still know about them.

Anything that I loved in college and that was, then, considered underground and edgy that I now here over the Muzak system while shopping for groceries.
Most recent example: The Cure. I mean... wtf?!

Every song my daughter asks me, “how old is this song?” and I tell her, “around 40-45 years,” think back to when the song came out, and have it hit me that it is 40-45 years old, and that I remember it when it was new.

Any music I play with great pleasure always makes me feel like I’m in the ‘now’ and I still keep track of any great rock/metal stuff that gets released.
    Never too old.
