I had a few PMs from people regarding my wacky setups both up and down stairs.

A working yet primitive story with links to pictures is at

    http://home.attbi.com/~sckott/my_setups.html

It's primitive, but the pictures are nice and big (400k) and do not use the bandwith of Steve's forum to look. It's just something quick I set up on my webspace.

The rack on the "downstairs" unit (Tubes) is a new one that came from the Mill Store locally for $17.99. I know a lot of folks were looking for geek-chic' equipment racks, and you can check out this one I got unfinished (and I kept it that way). You can see that it was "Made" for simple tube equipment and does nicely on the pocket...

This wasn't to be a show off or to encourage more people to do the same, but it's nice to see! People like the sights.
    Enjoy!

    Sckott,
I enjoyed looking at your systems-the basement setup looked especially cool. Didn't notice any basement speakers. What are you using down there?

Cut well. Not bright at all.

Ya know, with all this snow, my package from ClassicRecs came. I can't believe that.

Quick review: DAD of I ROBOT, Alan Parsons was fabulous, and Genesis' "Nursery Cryme" & "Foxtrot" on vinyl was VERY worth checking out. I know of no pressing that comes through as nicely. ;)

And hey.. thanks! I hope we can get to see more form everyone else!

Thre Dynaco? Yes. St70's are 70 total, 35w each.

Dynaco's will live forever - there's a zillion St-70's out there waiting to be loved, and all kinda mods if you're the experimenter type. Did your quad cap replacement have higher values than the orignal? If so, do you have non-flabby bass?

For me, it wasn't the inclusion of the cap board that provided "Non flabby bass". I know people say and insist that's what they hear. I'd say a good strong quad of tubes, GOOD WIRING and good caps on the bias bridge, much more realistic. The capboard quickens up the amp a bit, but it seems to work for the mids and highs as well. The whole picture gets just a tad bit faster.

I would recommend getting the capboard, not as an upgrade, but as a spare, or help to build 1/3 of another. The board takes care of the bias bridge & caps (spragues), the selenium rectifier (now just a diode that costs 7 cents) and the low-profile caps. I used it 80% because I was building an ST70 from scratch. Parts, trannys' wiring, boards, sockets, work. LOT of fun. It was built in a night, and the only problem I had turning it on, was the cap board bolts in too close to the power tranny and grounded out. The bias started growing and growing WAY past 1.56!! (You can't find 1.56 resistors, so I used 1.5) I had to raise the power tranny with two brass washers on each corner. If you look closely, you'll notice the power tranny in the middle is a tiny bit higher.
