Didn't I see a behind the scenes picture where there were some characters that were on the set, but didn't make it in the final picture. Anyone remember who they were...or did I just dream that?
Yeah some of that is in Anthology, and the LCHB CD has some of the detail. From what I can remember, May West needed encouragement as she was going to sue (or did) and said "Why would I be in a Lonely Hearts Club?" Some more pertanent detail is in Lewoshin's book, and that should be on everyone's coffee tabel. That way, you don't have to site laziness. In fact, I may be wrong, but the untouched EMI final photo is in the center of that book with the 2-3 actors/gurus put back in.
The two people that were left out of the picture are Leo Gorcey (actor) because he wanted a fee and Mohandas Karamchand Ghandi, at the request of EMI. Am I the only one on this forum who owns this on the Parlophone label by EMI 1987?
Semi-related question: If you buy the stock copy CD these days, does it come with the booklet that the CD originally had in '87 ('88?)? The booklet mapped out everyone on the cover, and those who were airbrushed out. It also contained interesting tid-bits about the sessions, and instructions on how to reprogram the CD to the orignal running order (propsed but never released).
Yes, that one is still available. There is 30th Anniversary edition I have seen twice which is a Dutch (?) import. From what I remember of it, it had a slightly thicker booklet than the domestics and also had a cardboard slipcase for the whole package where the larger booklet wouldn't fit into the jewelcase. But the disc itself is the same mastering job as the rest
Yes. The cover between EMI and the Beatles was a big deal, including the inner bag, caused come controversy (designed by The Fool). Brain Epstein said "Ohh, it's a bloody masterpiece, just out a paper bag over it and sell it that way, it's brilliant!"
W.C. Fields - Woman you've driven me to drink! It's the only thing I'm indebted to you for. Mae West - Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me.
