Just for the record, the song titles were in fact Gone To Heaven and Gone To Hell. There is a picture of the song list in Neil's handwriting.
some late night letters to the editor: - neil is preparing a release of "looking for a leader 2020" - "toast" coming 2021 - neil is still trying to make the july release date of return to greendale
here is a list, mostly from memory, and with some very limited research, of all the projects that neil has MENTIONED in letters or in passing on NYA. i have compiled it in roughly chronically order of when it would have been originally recorded/developed. let me know if i am missing anything.
Here's the NYA link for the last Can: Neil Young Archives' (Looks like you're missing CSNY Fillmore 1970, Greendale acoustic (Vicar Street), LincVolt Chronicles and the Monsanto making-of documentary off that list.)
thanks. i will add CSNY 1970, but vicar street is already out (available on itunes) and the other two mentioned releases are movies, not albums.
why no cowgirl? why does he keep cutting songs from live albums that can fit like he did on the horse set fillmore release?
Yes. It’s not a very good performance and it’s a bit out of tune. It was available as BR download on NYA Vol1.
Young Shakespeare also has been billed as part of a 50th anniversary package, with an ATGR reissue. So it seemingly has to at least stay in 2020.
Great list. In a 2-22-20 letter he also says a Crazy Horse performance called ‘Hammersmith’ is coming soon. I assume from the March 1976 run of shows.
Has to be Odeon/Budokan. He is talking 30 years back from 2008 and Crazy Horse have never played Hammersmith again after 1976.
My understanding is that the audio comes from both shows while only 1 of them was filmed. It is part of Archives Volume 2 and there will be a separate vinyl release. As far as I can read the tea leaves the Blu-ray release will also be separate. Also whether Young Shakespeare is part of an After The Gold Rush box or a stand alone seems to change every time it is mentioned.
