I have NO Black Crowes records. I desperately want Amorica. That album is unreal. I'd also want Southern Harmony and Money Maker. I can do without the rest.
This is where I'm at with it : https://m.facebook.com/story.php?st...¬if_t=feed_comment&actorid=163182960445231
Acoustic Sounds has a September 18, 2015 release date. And I'm with you all - I'll believe it when I HEAR it. http://store.acousticsounds.com/index.cfm?get=results&searchtext=black,crowes&status=Pre Order
I too was at both shows and will pass on these. SUPER expensive and the mix SUCKS so bad. Audley doesn't even sound like he's in the same room as the rest of the band. Forget about Rich always turning the 2nd guitar player down because that happened too, but the sonic picture just isn't right. The band is at the Orpheum. Audley is in a phone booth outside the venue. Terrible mix on what could have been a decent release. And, like on the US CD, we got short changed again on NO "My Morning Song". That's bogus. The Mojo Hand Jam was one of the best moments of the pair of nights.
Not sure if this means anything, but the catalog numbers in that Acoustic Sounds link with the September 18 date all start with AAME, which I believe indicates they would be on the American Recordings (formerly Def American) label. I found pre-orders of the same albums available here yesterday with UNILP replacing AAME: http://www.elusivedisc.com/The-Black-Crowes/products/2353/ Universal is the parent company of American Recordings, so I'm hoping against hope that maybe it means whatever dispute/issue that was preventing American from releasing them was resolved/bypassed by Universal. But then, I saw this which still says American, but with an October 2 date, so I'm not so optimistic now. I don't know what to think: http://www.musicdirect.com/p-154480...-harmony-and-musical-companion-vinyl-2lp.aspx
They were all taken off Alliance's website a few months ago. I don't think those albums are being reissued. Chris and Rich would have to agree on it, first of all...
Thanks for your research. I hope they are done as well as the Jayhawks reissues from a few years back...
Seeing as they keep changing the dates, and the biggest distributor in the nation dropped the pre-order open and took them off the catalog altogether, combined with the fact that Chris and Rich can't even agree on the weather anymore...doesn't bode well for these reissues at all. I highly doubt it will happen this year.
MusicDirect is advertising them now. In my inbox today. Will believe when I get a shipment notification...
It ain't gonna happen. I would LOVE to eat those words. But I doubt I will. I'll plug the Plain repress of SHMC again. People complained but I thought it was a fairly clean, flat pressing. The copy I found was not expensive. YMMV. Luckily I have been obsessed w Amorica since 1995 and bought the original vinyl.
I tend to agree but have my fingers crossed. I have a US original of Moneymaker, original UK of SHMC, and the 7" Box for Three Snakes. Been on the lookout for Amorica for a year and just haven't pulled off anything resembling a bargain yet. That said, I am pre-ordering all 4. I wish they would do the rest of the later albums as well someday (outside of Warpaint I guess since its still readily available).
I suppose if they're bumping them to 2LP's, bonus tracks (a la the Jayhawks reissues) on side 4 would be logical, but probably asking too much? "Just Say You're Sorry" is probably the best song from the Three Snakes sessions, and there's great b-sides on all the Crowes albums, really.
Just a guess that you've never heard Pastoral?? And as for a decent reissue, I'd be hoping for a MFSL treatment : https://m.facebook.com/story.php?st...182960445231¬if_t=feed_comment&ref=m_notif
Sure, but they never released a studio version, I don't think? I have a live version from somewhere, but it's more of just a cool riff than a real fleshed-out song.
The Plain repress is a 16/44.1 transfer of the CD master. You're better off with an original CD pressing over either the original vinyl or the repress.
The fleshed out song was never released but does exist. There's also an instrumental Pastoral that is in the bootleg world - Pastoral Jam. crowesbase is your guide in all matters Crowes - grab some knowledge on the subject in the links below.
