Not that familiar with her, but the vocal is dreadful and the song something of a dirge.

You got me all excited that Johnny Marr was on this, then I went and listened to it and he only plays friggin one chord at the very end. I still like the song though, can say I am a fan of Billie’s since I heard Bad Guy all over the radio last year.

Indeed. Immortals ranging from Duran Duran to A-Ha to Sheryl Crow have been entrusted with this sacred task.

Seems like it would fit as an end title over the credits and not completely as an opening sequence track of course that may depend on how fast or slow of an opening pace the creators have in mind. Would like to see the future bond films go back to the classic style it had, things are too dramatic these days. It’s not the best bond tune ever but not the worst either.

The mix is the biggest problem for me. The vocal is ridiculously louder than the music. So many things wrong with modern recording. When you hear this kind of mix in an office or store where the music is softly playing in the background, it just comes across as a disjointed voice with no accompaniment or discernible rhythm. I guess, at least there’s a melody here.

I miss the days when James Bond movies had a sense of humor, and the theme songs didn't take themselves so seriously.

People involved with the film are hardly going to say anything negative.

Why does everything have to be dark? It's been a frustrating trend for years now that music that's dark and often depressing receives automatic credibility. I can't remember the last time critics had mass enthusiasm for something uplifting.

I like the song, but it's not overly Bond-ish.

I can remember thinking that “Skyfall” was weak when I first heard it, but these slowburn theme songs are the new normal for Bond and I think that with acquaintance this one will start to sound like a classic.

Yeah, it's like the opposite to the Adele one which was all Bond-isms, but they forgot to write a song.

With the exception of a couple of titles, Bond themes have hardly been exceptional pieces of songwriting. They’re almost always capitalizing on who is hot at the time. I mean, when is the last time you had A-ha’s or Madonna’s Bond theme in your head? The Duran Duran one is dreadful. Cornell’s was screechy. Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang isn’t gonna be remembered for it’s musical excellence.

Just listened to it. Have to say that I like it, works well. Second only to Adele’s Skyfall for the Craig era themes, which for me is up there with the all time classics of the entire series.

Cornell's is the best modern bond theme.

He used his own style. the spirit was all bond, with light touch on the tropes that people mistakenly lard on.
