they've already done some; 2 x Paul Mauriat 2-fer's, The Swingle Singers, Ray Davies & Button Down Brass 2-fer, Donald Byrd "Black Byrd" are all Quads licensed from Universal Music Group
The Guess Who American Woman/Share the Land disc sounds really superb. Crossed the ocean in about 12 days. I’m loving this one.
possibly the limitations of my phone camera or the lighting in my room, i'll check tomorrow in daylight
Yes indeed, I think that is probably the case as the photo on the actual CD looks just fine to me and I had the original vinyl album back in the day.
Thanks! I'm glad. It's strange 'cause the Dutton Vocalion cover art looks yellow-ish on Amazon and on some other sites, too, whereas the cover looks just fine/natural, if you look at previous CD and vinyl releases in google images.
I’ve been buying all their rock, pop and jazz issues. How are they getting access to all these catalogs and who is Michael Dutton? He does a great job on these transfers. The best part most are twofers and they are priced at $16 a disc, amazing. Since they obviously are tied into Sony, I hope that he gets the Johnny Winter titles, Mahavishnu’s between Nothingness, Mountain and Miles Live Evil
Quite a while ago, the Arco gas company charged my debit card .35 cents for an unneeded debit card fee. After someone took them to court - and won, everyone who was charged that useless .35 cent fee got a check in the mail for $91.94, which funded my purchase of 5 Dutton Vocalion SACDs and some beer. Sweet!
I remember that fee being 25 cents. So how did you get on the mailing list for the checks? I'm still waiting for that Charlie Rich quad twofer I ordered 5 days ago.
Not sure how I got on the mailing list, they found me through my old address at my parents house. I actually got two checks.
If one gets mailed to me at my parents house I'll never see it if my sister sees it first. So when's the next set of Vocalion releases and does anyone know what they are?
Just ordered: Black Byrd Prelude/Deodato 2 Sextant Tale SpinninLooking forward to giving them a spin when they make it across the pond! Nice that someone is giving some audiophile love to jazz made after 1965!
Will he say when the next release is then? I wish Vocalion would put a "Coming Soon" on their site like everyone else.
I kind of get you but prefer to be told it's coming next week rather than announcing eighteen months before like another concern does (as much as I loved there discs)
Just ordered three D/V SACDs from Grooves Inc. The total for the three SACDs was $40.15 with free shipping. Donald Byrd - Black Byrd Guess Who - Rockin & The Best Of The Guess Who V.2 Guess Who - American Woman & Share The Land Grooves Inc. Thanks to a fellow SH member for posting this thread ! Dutton/Voxalian SACD's Great Price At Grooves, INC
I had 1 of perhaps 6 or 7 orders go MIA last year and they shipped another which arrived in about a week. I’ll be patient for another week or so, sometimes customs holds things up.
