I went to the DC show. They were great as usual. Shirley was a little less talkative than usual as some people commented, but I still enjoyed it. It was also at a seated venue. I do prefer clubs where it's standing though for an act like Garbage. There were no sound issues I heard and her voice was really good.

If she seemed a little off at some shows, I think it was because Butch Vig wasn't there. I know some people see Garbage as just Shirley, but Butch is such a big part of the band, not just a drummer. The substitute did great, but I'm sure she missed him.

I also enjoyed Kristin Kontrol. But then I'm a huge Dum Dum Girls fan. Her new direction is really good. It's kind of a cross between Blondie, Siouxsie and Madonna. I would see a solo show of hers anytime!

Why is Butch not taking part of this tour, does anyone know?

He's dealing with some health issues. I think I read it's something to do with his back?

Shirley at the concert said he has some kind of lingering sinus infection that prevents him from flying. It seems odd though. Can't you take some kind of antibiotic or medication for that? A sinus infection doesn't seem like it should be that serious. But I guess it can be?

A real bad infection can be hard to shake... and flying or scuba diving can be super problematic. Been there done that...

Very true. I had a sinus infection that lasted all of 2007. I was on/off of antibiotics the whole year and finally had to have surgery to get rid of it. Hope Shirley's get's resolved quickly.

There was a box set of 6x 7inch with the first album on. I used to have 2 copies of that!

G.O.D., I sold that after staring at it for years. Now I'm staring at those first five 7" singles and never tire of 'em;)

Is this short speak for "Vinal Vinyl Version"? I love the 1995 UK Mushroom that was housed in a pink "G" plastic bag! I've also heard the Simply Vinyl version and thought it sounded good. Although I didn't like the artwork - inserts instead of printed inners. Apparently the new pink vinyl remaster is also not bad but I have never heard it.

Simply Vinyl is synonymous with using a CD for mastering.

In addition to that I had the Vow 7" in metal sleeve, Subhuman in rubber sleeve, Queer in plastic sleeve, Only Happy in hologram sleeve, white label remixes, t shirts that were never gonna fit, posters of Shirley all over my walls, I even had the official Version 2.0 nail polish! Sold it all

That "Vow" 7-inch is one of my prized possessions. I remember a friend showing me his record collection and I was super impressed by the metal "Vow". Suddenly he gets out a box, pulls out another copy from it and says: "Here, if you like it so much, keep it!" An amazing moment:)

Not that anyone asked, but I'd put "2.0" over everything else.

The debut is a smidge over "Beautiful".

I'd probably put "Birds" next and then "Bleed" with "Not" in the rear...

For a long time I held off buying the vinyl of Strange Little Birds in fear that it would sound as bad as the cd. I know there are some waveforms on the thread a few pages back that make it clear that it is a different mastering, but I thought I'd mention that I finally bought the records and the mastering definitely has more dynamic range than the cd and to me sounds quite a bit better. This is one of my favorite albums of the year.

The vinyl is essential not just for the added dynamic range, but also the extra track before the etching on Side D.

I went for the Philly show. Not all that excited that I paid $100 when I'm used to paying half that for Garbage, but I got an orchestra pit seat, so that compensates.

Plus, I never saw Blondie, so that'll be fun. I have low expectations - IIRC, I've heard they're not great live these days - but at least I can say I saw 'em! :)

Will be kinda pissed if they add DC! I don't mind traveling for shows, but I'm less eager to do so in this case because I'm unsure how much Garbage will play.

Full 2-hour show? Great. 75-minutes or less? Argh!

And I think 75 minutes might be a fantasy - they'll probably play for more like 45-60 minutes.

Not sure why they have an opening act for a concert with 2 headliners...
