I ran into her on the street before a gig once. Lovely and hilarious.

Neko and Kelly’s rapport in concert is just fantastic!

Kelly is an underrated gem and I wish she’d record a new solo album — I loved her Anti album!

A bit of an overreaction, you think?

I mean... You took snarky umbrage. Twice. But, OK. Back on topic?

Hope she recorded precisely the record she wanted to record, and the reception will sort itself out. Personally, I think she's a good enough songwriter that if she chooses to engage with the moment, she's going to be great.

Mine is already ordered. Looking at the cover I take away a few things that may be off the mark but.......
    1) I hope this is a continued theme with "Where did I Leave that fire".
    2) Could Hell-on be Helen ala Helen of Troy?
Really like the unusual sounds and texture of the Case-Lang-Veirs album. Hope those sessions wore off on her.
40 secs of teaser is like smelling a fine soup all day but never having enough time to eat a bowel..

    Interesting choice of words!

I'm psyched for this. She's not really in my usual wheelhouse but I really liked Middle Cyclone and have always wanted to delve in further.

I pre-ordered yesterday and woke to find the link for the single download in my inbox. The 40 second clip is just the tip of the iceberg on this song.
Can't wait for the full album!

Wow - that album cover is fugly. I'll always give new Neko a listen though, even though for me, she has yet to top Fox Confessor.

How would you react if Neko Case wrote “This Machine Kills Fascists” around the soundhole of her tenor guitar?

Lots of cool guests on this album according to this article in Pitchfork:

Neko Case Shares New Song “Hell-On”: Listen | Pitchfork

She produced the album, which features contributions from Beth Ditto, Mark Lanegan, k.d. Lang, AC Newman, Eric Bachmann, Kelly Hogan, Doug Gillard, Laura Veirs, Joey Burns, and more.

The vocals on this song are strange. She's a little pitchy and the delivery is forced. But I like the vibe. Has that typical Neko feel of a bunch of song fragments woven together into something really cool.

I don't know that I've ever thought of Neko as being a "great vocalist" -- she sometimes sounds sharp or flat, but she makes it work as a part of her style. I love her to pieces, especially in concert!

  19. Count me in! It's been too long since she did a solo album.

She's very close to the top of my list of people I could pass a good afternoon in the pub with.

If you want to have a laugh, seek out that talk she did with Bobcat Goldthwait a few years back. I was there and it was fun. It may be on WNYC's website or on youtube.

Oooh, Lang and Veirs again. That trio album really was underwhelming.
