I listened to the two new singles three times apiece back when they came out. I’ll probably do the same with Fuh You, and any others that come out before the album (if any). Like many, I want to hear the album fresh as one piece, but I also want to “follow along” as it were with all the hype and build up. So, this is the best compromise I can come up with!

I know the Fuh You clip hardly reveals anything, but I think I’ll be on the side of fans who like it when the civil war starts that @Bemagnus has been alluding to! :wantsome:

    :hugs:

    I've started a new thread:

How do people excited about Paul McCartney's Egypt Station feel about the Off The Ground sessions?

    "Welcome everybody!

This thread is about a very important question that needs to be asked:

How do people that are excited about Paul McCartney's Egypt Station feel about the Off The Ground sessions?
Was the album all it could have been? With many excellent B-sides being available, does the song selection hold up well? And how do live versions compare to their recorded equivalents? How have the recordings dates? And what do we know about outtakes?
Do you look forward to Egypt Station as much as you did to Off The Ground? How well do you think Egypt Station will hold up next to OTG? And how will it's live versions compare to their recorded equivalents? And will there be as many outtakes?

I'll start of with my favorite B-side of the era:

The first thing I heard from the sessions, was the C'Mon People Cd-single, which I bought on an Italian street market in 1997 or 1998. I loved all the songs and still feel C'Mon People is the Hey Jude of the 90's, a timeless anthem only lacking in cultural impact when compared to it's more famous brother.

    Greetings,

    Yorick"

Thank you. Please continue to tell us we're off topic. We'll get to the one after 909 much quicker that way.

  9. Always love Paul’s bass playing and look forward to it on Egypt Station.
The singles feature excellent bass playing, so expect more.

Great video below of Paul speaking directly to us, giving us a bass lesson.

I remember veteran rock journo Chris Welch giving it a 10/10 rating in Rock World magazine.

Great special. I also like the fact Keith is in the documentary as well. Buddy Holly had a huge influence.

  14. Thanks! I have heard (via Jackie DeShannon’s reporting on Breakfast with the Beatles) that both Archive sets will be released on 9/7, along with Egypt Station.

Frankly I'd be shocked if they released not one but two archive sets on the same day as brand new material. I doubt any artist wants their new work to be overshadowed by your old work being reissued on the same day!

So if they count album sales from the concerts where they included sending out Egypt Station CDs, about how many would this be?

If that were going to happen, I would expect them to have announced the Archive sets by now. I wouldn't go looking for these until 2019 sometime...

Yes, very unlikely that any archive set is released the day of Egypt Station.

[SORRY/WARNING: NO EGYPT STATION CONTENT IN THIS POST!]

I'm sure this is a well-worn tale that was a standard part of his speaking engagements, etc., but I saw Al Franken speak in a small setting about 20 years ago and he had a funny story about this appearance by Paul on SNL. Basically, and as I remember it, he said that the first time the band ran through "Hey Jude" the cast was in tears, amazed and moved that they were hearing this classic performed live right in front of them. Then the next time it got played they were still excited, but a little less so. Finally, by the time Paul was doing it during the actual broadcast, Franken used that as an opportunity to steal bluejeans from the show's Gap set.

I don’t know if this was already posted here:
‘Paul McCartney Live At The Cavern 2018’ film, directed by filmmaker Paul Dugdale (The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Adele, etc) will make its debut next year, around May according to sources, at the Cannes Film Festival and possibly on Blu Ray and DVD also next year.

Are the DVD/Blu-ray extras going to be people clawing at each other over tickets at the Liverpool Arena?
