They are all great, I was disappointed when I was told they were folding the tent with the band. I am wondering if it was sales related as they did their best albums IMO.
I might go for an SACD of a Little Feat title, but I wouldn’t go for the vinyl. I just don’t listen to them much. I like them but they don’t turn me on. I’m more of an 80s alternative guy anyway. If you got The Cure’s Disintegration, I’d totally buy a 2-LP 45RPM.
I think either one of those would do pretty well. $55-$60 is a relative bargain these days fir 45RPM with One Steps and what not. Its not like you are issuing tons of releases at once where people have to choose. I suspect for a lot of folks, an IR release is an automatic purchase at this point. It certainly is for me. I'm in on either format but lean towards vinyl.
There’s a recent release in Japan of Dixie Chicken as a Uhqcd which some Little Feat fans may already own. I would have thought that Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, The Last Record Album and Time Loves a Hero might make more sense as sacds. I don’t believe that any of these were released by mofi.
Happy to read that many of you have your LP on the way. The shipping notification that I received six weeks ago is still saying "label created" but relieved to know that it can't be too much longer. Really looking forward to this release!
Only Time Loves A Hero is listed on their website with a status of ‘back in stock soon’: Little Feat: Time Loves A Hero .
Re Little Feat: 78s or I'm not touching it with a barge pole. Also I haven't heard any updates on 12 Bars Of Gold. I do hope it's going well because if any release is due an audiophile reissue it's that one.
YES, I would definitely buy Dixie Chicken and Sailin' Shoes. Maybe start with those two? (I need to revisit the others, but I'd probably get more than those two albums.)
Little Feet seems like the kind of band where you either like/love the Lowell George discography pretty much in total, or you don't. If you're looking for a discography where you can probably sell the entire run to fans (up through Columbus, that is), that's an intriguing choice. Downside: Many of these titles have already had one or more audiophile reissues. Some are well regarded. Reissue licenses may still be floating around in competitors' hands. Upside: Warner licenses. Appears most/all audiophile reissues are out of print.
No! Let's not start considering the One Steps a benchmark for a straight forward audiophile reissue. If others' pricing starts to align with those then I'm gone.
