"Musk," "Texas Moon" and "Perfect Child" are essential, IMHO. Also the acoustic version of "Antennae" is pretty great. Halfway down this page, there is a lot of discussion about the deluxe edition's bonus tracks: 25 years on: The Church “Starfish” appreciation thread / song-by-song review
I know "Starfish" gets the most attention, but "Heyday" is the better album, IMO. A top-notch reissue of that would be great!
It would be interesting to see if there's anything totally unreleased from this time period in the bands vaults - live tracks or demos that we've not seen before.
Love this idea. I feel like all the versions I've heard of "Heyday" leave real room for improvement, from a SQ standpoint. And it is a classic album.
It was difficult to track down the bonus tracks from the 2-CD set. That's the repertoire at hand. It's going to be difficult to fit onto two LPs!
That's the rub in this biz. I can make em great I can't make em cheap. You'l like the "Nice Price" stuff later this year.
No, I'm not complaining about the prices. They are fine. You get what you pay for, and I like what I've paid for What's the story with the "Nice Price," though?
I'm curious as to whether you'd be interested in doing an LP version of Kate Bush's Aerial. As far as I know, it's currently the only one of her albums not readily available on vinyl, and the scarce vinyl pressings that do exist are apparently prone to bad pressing issues. I have no idea whether she'd be willing to license it, but she did allow AP to do Hounds of Love and The Sensual World (and I think AP recently repressed HOL). My understanding is that she is an audiophile and personally approved the mastering on the AP versions. I don't know what the market for it would be, but she has a pretty dedicated fanbase, and the album seems to come up often in every "Albums you wish you could find on vinyl" thread I've read.
Shane explained a few pages back: New Record Label: Intervention Records "Since this is another cat out of the bag, what I've been thinking is a "Nice Price" series, regular weight single-33 vinyl, cut 100% analog where applicable, "old style" Stoughton jackets with no film lamination, black and white inserts where applicable instead of expanding to gatefolds for $25. It's a sound-first series with damned nice jackets, just not quite the full-IR $35-55 treatment for $25. I like this idea. You?"
It’s too bad “Unsubstantiated” didn’t end up on the ‘Starfish’ deluxe edition instead of (inexplicably) the ‘Priest=Aura’ one. Great track in line with the sound of what they were doing on ‘Starfish’ IMO. Either way, couldn’t possibly be more excited for this release!
The acoustic versions from the Sum of the Parts promo CD are the best. Please consider Heyday or other early stuff, I think the albums prior to Starfish are brilliant. If the Church stuff is out on digital release I will buy each and every one. There is a start.
Agreed, Aerial would be awesome. The cd sounds good, I can only imagine how much better a vinyl pressing on this label would be.
