Will this series finally explain why Obi-Wan managed to age about 50 years in the span of less than 20 between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope?
Yeah sort of like having Luke retain the name "Skywalker." Yeah that's totally a common last name and his dad totally won't find him.
No, honestly, it's probably going to make that worse. No evidence he used the name Skywalker anywhere publicly. We don't even hear Luke say it until he's rescuing Princess Leia. That said, I believe some of the early deleted scenes with Luke's friends do have them calling him Skywalker, so there's that.
Is Disney ever going to produce anything that DOESN’T at least partially take place on that damned desert planet??
Sir Alec Guinness was 62 when he filmed Star Wars in 1976. Ewan McGregor is now 50. The Obi-Wan Kenobi show takes place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and 10 before A New Hope. Therefore in the Star Wars time line they're actually almost the same age. Sir Alec would've been 52 had he filmed Obi-Wan Kenobi 10 years prior to A New Hope. If they was to reboot A New Hope 10 years from now Ewan would be almost the same age as Sir Alec was when he filmed the original.
Hopefully Andor which will be releasing later in the year will will feature some whole new worlds for us to look at.
OOOHH Ahsoka has to get her own feature that'd be awesome backstory and in line with exploring the other species in Star Wars. I have also enjoyed their Mando/Bobba series as they are fun, short adventures providing a surprising amount of backstory and context that builds on the movies. I think the Disney-made star wars movies are a riskier expansion on the first 6 movies' lineage. I liked them I just don't know if any place as a favorite.
Darth Maul Cut from Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Star Wars Show – The Hollywood Reporter Darth Maul is "cut" from the new Obi-Wan series. Pardon the pun. Interesting article actually. Some brief insight on how and Vader made it into this show.
Fun little anecdote from filming: Ewan McGregor: "I turned around, and ****ing Darth Vader was coming at me. It scared the **** out of me"
I'm in season 2 of Clone Wars filling in some back story before Kenobi and Ashoka hit the airwaves. This show is way better than I would have expected. Very well-done. I say "show" instead of cartoon as a subtle sign of respect.
I don't like this one bit because a new confrontation diminishes the significance of their meeting in A New Hope. The following lines are now going to refer to whatever meeting they have in the new series? No thanks. Darth Vader: I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now, I am the master. Obi-Wan: Only a master of evil, Darth. They introduced the Inquisitors in Rebels, so just run with that.
My biggest mistake in watching Clone Wars was not writing down which episodes were good, and which were bad...and there are quite a few really bad ones. I think it's in season 3 or 4 where there is a 3 parter that was so painfully awful I almost quit watching entirely. But then you get some amazing episode and they suck you back in.
A good article from Vanity Fair about the upcoming Star Wars shows on Disney plus. ‘Star Wars’: The Rebellion Will Be Televised
Wake me up when their is a Disney+ series about my namesake character: Mosep Binneed A galactic accountant has a ton of possiblities
Seconded. (It may have helped that I saw them at the cast and crew world premiere at Star Wars Celebration.)
I was having a debate about the timeline with my kids: does the series take place before or after Obi Wan kills Darth Maul as dramatized in Star War Rebels?
I liked the first episode. I wasn’t expecting the plot that convinced him to come out of hiding. The acting was a bit dry, but this seems more serious than the Bobba Fett and Mandalorean series so far. I’m excited to see how this series plays out, I hope it doesn’t get too corny. On a side note, Marvel Comics has done a pretty decent job of updating the SW universe the past few years, but there were 2 Vader series that were especially good, it looks from the previews that they are taking some plot points from those series. They tell the stories in between the movies and caught me off guard how well written and drawn they were. I would highly recommend them to Star Wars fans who delve into the other mediums.
