One of my favorite "obscure" '60s tunes has always been 'Lonely Atmosphere' from The Lemon Pipers! Such a great tune! Unfortunately, nothing on You Tube This is a GREAT thread! Lovin' it!
No Not Much by the Smoke Ring. I like the Vogues but their old-style version that was contemporaneous was weak.
Woman You're Breakin' Me by the Groop. This might have been Austraila's greatest pop tune if it weren't for the immortal Friday on my Mind by the Easybeats.
The Tide is Turning, by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. Absolutely glorious! Their most mature-sounding and sophisticatedly produced song, and quite likely their best, although you'd certainly be forgiven for picking the remarkable Legend of Xanadu!
Morning Sky by Thoughts and Words. The band consisted of two members of another underrated band, Pandamonium (their spelling, not mine). This is the single version; the album version has some extra piano during the second verse that isn't on this version.
Great songs so far~! Mine are any from my "100 Favorite Obscure Singles from 1966-1969" list that I posted in my Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/436602683105129/
Flat Earth Society. The Jesus And Mary Chain must have heard this at some point. This is the best version of this song for me. Truly ghostly in it's execution.
Why no McKendree Spring on CD, I believe the first CBS album is particularly good? I procrastinated on the recent Ballroom CD, now it's expensive, solution never procrastinate let your ears be the judge.
Best Martin Denny ripoff you'll ever hear,in spite of the fact they go overboard with the monkey calls. That piano, you'd swear..,
